Who is going to be considered "The Beatles" or the "Led Zeppelin" of our generation? Who is going to be considered the greatest musical artist out of our lifetime? Just about everyone of us was born past 1985, so nobody here listened to Zeppelin or The Beatles when they were still together and making music so nobody should be saying bands from the 60's, 70's, 80's and even the early 90's. Technically, Nirvana was still around in 1994, but I didn't listen to them at the time, so I don't think they count as the Greatest of our Time. I was only 7 at the time. I would rather consider them the greatest of the generation before us. So lets kind of put bands that put most of thier great stuff out past 1996.I'm going to go with The Red Hot Chili Peppers as the greatest of my time. Yes, they have albums in the 80's and early 90's, but they have tons of music in the late 90's and of course now as well. Not only do they have a great sound, but thier song writing is just plain awesome. Some of my favorites are Dani California, Californication, Soul to Squeeze, Otherside, Snow (Hey Oh), Under the Bridge, and Suck My Kiss.

I don't know if they count or not, but what about Aerosmith? They had some records out from the 90's on as well like the Chili Peppers. Another band withstanding the changing of time.

Puddle of Mudd, lol.No, but seriously. I would say Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, RHCP, Rage Against the Machine, Korn, and other bands like that could be considered along those lines.

I was alive when the Beattles were playing, they sucked until they discovered LSD.I don't listen to much of the current music today, so I don't really know.

I don't think so with Nirvana. They needed to last longer. I do love Nirvana though.Chili Peppers came to my mind when I saw this thread. Pearl Jam has a chance, as does Foo Fighters.

I'm picking the Foo Fighters though rock isn't the same as it used to be. Foo Fighters are one of the few that make it on MTV that are really a rock band.
