Re: Greece > USA Greece beat the USA for the World Championship 101 to 95 today, getting the Americans the Silver instead of the Gold.
Re: Greece > USA Actually, the Americans have to play for bronze. As tough a loss as it is, it's not coming unexpected. Greece's international team has been together for 8 years. Greece has a lot of length. The US have been together for 8 weeks. We don't have enough homegrown size anymore. By 08, we'll have Oden ready hopefully. We suck at 3 point shooting. That's the only thing European players do and we can't trade 2 for 3. We really need Morrison a nd Kobe for the 3s.FIBA rules allow a lot more contact than the NBA does. FIBA is almost street ball in physicality. You can throw an elbow and unless the person flies down, it's not a foul.So basically, we need more height, weight, strength, and outside shooting. Dump Kirk Hinrich for Gilbert Arenas. Dump Brad Miller for Greg Oden. Let Chris Bosh play more, Bosh is going to be a top 3-5 PF in the NBA soon and he has length. Get Morrison on the court. If the opponent drains a 3, he'll respond.

Re: Greece > USA Dwayne Wade dribble the fuckin ball too much and thats why he costs too many turnovers... And im mad at Hinrich too for turning the ball over... Why wasn't Howard in that much? He was having a good game.. Oh well, hopefully we have Kobe next time... and Ogden like you said.. and we need Howard, James, Melo.... We will come back strong next time
Re: Greece > USA This team simply isn't made for half-court basketball. Coach K can't use that. Paul, LeBron, Melo, Wade, and Howard are runners. We need D'Antonoi to run the team not Coach K.Wade only had 2 turnovers. lol. LeBron had 4.If we made more fuckin free throws we woulda won. But Melo 6-10, Wade 6-9, LeBron was 1-4, Battier1-2, Paul 3-4, Bosh 1-2, Howard 2-3 cost us the game. Missing free throws isn't going to help the cause at all.Joe Johnson was in the game too long and not doing anything productive. Battier is a waste of playing time. Greece didn't really have a star that needed to be shut down. Coach K can't keep changing the lineup every 5 minutes. You're not running a rec team giving everyone playing time, you're playing for national pride.Quite simply, we can't take 28 3s and only make 9 when Greece is taking 18 and making 8. The extra 10 opportunities could have been 2 point shots.btw, Howard isn't exactly a scorer. By default he scored for the Magic but he's a rebounder. We'll be getting Amare and Kobe back though. Arenas should make the team. We'll have explosiveness inside and outside shooting.
Re: Greece > USA Arenas would've helped like crazy. And Jamison is one of the best 3-shooters on the team... I don't get why he didn't play.

Everyone says he's good cause he had 1 good performance in the playoffs this past year.We need my boy JJ Reddick to be on the team. He's disgusting at 3's.
Re: Greece > USA Arenas might be the most UNDERrated player in sports...He averaged 30 points in the regular season and is only 23.
Re: Greece > USA JJ Redick is too one dimensional. I'd take Morrison over him anyday. JJ is strictly, roll of screen, catch, shoot. Morrison can shoot from anywhere and isn't afraid to go to the basket. And I'm sorry, Antawn Jamison isn't that good. He can't play defense as a SF cause he's not quick and not big enough to play PF. Again, Morrison is a higher percentage shooter than him and has a true position.Arenas averaged 2.5 made 3p per game last year. We definately need that. For the 08 Olympics, if I were Coach K, I'd want my roster to bePG: Chris Paul, Gilbert Arenas, Chauncey BillupsSG: Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Ron ArtestSF: Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Adam MorrisonPF: Amare Stoudemire, Dwight Howard, Shawn MarionC: Greg Oden, Marcus Camby, Chris BoshPaul is a great passer and floor leader plus a good guard rebounder. Kobe is what he is, the best player in the NBA, like him or not. Melo was the most consistant player in the FIBA WC. Amare is there for inside scoring. He's a beast attacking the basket. Oden is there for size. Almost every team but ours have a 7 footer that is useful. Oden will be the best player in college basketball next season.LeBron, Wade, Arenas are 3 of the best guards in the NBA. Arenas for 3s. Wade for mid-range jumpers and attacking the basket. LeBron cause he's big and attacks the basket and fadeaways. Billups is a top PG. He knows how to run a championship offense and is good at draining those elusive 3s. Morrison is a shooter with range everywhere. Artest is the best swing defender in the NBA. Plus he's capable of scoring. Howard and Bosh of the bench first. Bosh is turning into a complete player. Howard is a situational rebounder. Camby provides D and rebounding. Dalembert is a very good defender and he can have spurts of scoring. Long body and athleticism makes him ideal for those pesky Europeans.

Re: Greece > USA Hell yeah. Ron Artest is one of the most talented basketball player out there right now. He's a much better defender than Shane Battier and can score 20 ppg. How is that not team USA quality? The dude is more talented that Antawn Jamison, Shane Battier, Joe Johnson, Kirk Hinrich, and Brad Miller.

Johnson is one of the more talented players on the team.Joe Johnson:- Play Defense- Shoot 3- Drive The Lane- Leadership- Young As Hell- Fast- Versatile- Great Perimeter Shot- Can Dunk Pretty Damn Good
Re: Greece > USA Joe Johnson isn't good at defense at all. He's average at best at defense. He only made the team cause he could score and he didn't do a very good job at that either.Sure, he's versatile but we have PGs for a reason. Averages too many turnovers with the ball in his hand. His speed is decent but there are much faster players on the team that him. He has a good permieter shot and dunk but Gilbert Arenas is just as good.Either way, Ron Artest and Gilbert Arenas need to make the team over Shane Battier and Kirk Hinrich. Joe Johnson needs to be replaced by Shawn Marion if we want defense and strength or Adam Morrison for better shooting range. My updated Team USAPG: Chris Paul, Gilbert Arenas, Chauncey BillupsSG: Kobe Bryant, Dwyane WadeSF: Carmelo Anthony, LeBron JamesPF: Amare Stoudemire, Dwight Howard, Elton BrandC: Greg Oden, Marcus Camby, Chris BoshToss-up for the final 2 SG/SF spots between: Adam Morrison, Ray Allen, Joe Johnson, Ron Artest, and Shawn Marion.Personally, I would take Artest, and Marion. Billup and Arenas are the designated shooters. Morrison if we need range from anywhere on the court.. Ray Allen for outside shooting. Joe Johnson for a scoring punch. But Artest and Marion are versatile defenders and capable scorers.
Re: Greece > USA Don't you think you're giving Oden a little too much credit? He could still be a huge bust.
