My name is todd but I go by 1honestfan. I have been a blazer fan since 1974 and can remember when the blazers won it all back in 1976-77 season even though I was really young. My father was a basketball coach and so with his enthusiasm for the game, I was sucked into the game and played it all the way up to college where life took it's tool and I needed to step up and be a father. While my playing days are well in the past (Organized), I am still a blazer fan through and through. Please do not forget that as I do tend to doubt Paul Allen's capability to provide us fans with a team that can advance to the second round of the playoffs at least once in the last 14 years. Hopefully this is the first time to happen in a long, long, time. I have worked as a nurse for good amount of time but now I have started my own business. I have 5 grandchildren and love to watch movies with them and talk about sports but I need them to get a little bit older before they can understand and develop as they are still young. I don't expect everyone to agree with me because we all come from different walks of life. As my family told me when I was young, "History did not start when you were born."; I think that this can be applied to everyone and that even means me. However, their is a stark difference between retrieving something on the internet and actually living through an event and believe it or not, history can be rewritten. I like the Oregon State Beavers every day they play except for one day and that is the civil war but I am not snarky about it. I have been a Oregon Duck fan in football since 1989. With that said, I also vividly remember when OSU was a powerhouse in basketball since well before Gary Payton played there. Ralph Miller was a great coach, probably better than what Chip Kelly was at Oregon but in basketball. In my blogging career, I estimate that I have close to 20,000 posts. I mainly used to blog at ESPN and then PortlandBlazerstalk. I only moved from ESPN because they shut down their blogging site. When I blog, I like to be original in thought and not just regurgitate what others have written but do from time to time depending on the circumstances. Back in the days when AOL was huge, we used to blog in the chat rooms and then get together at a bar or where ever. Not sure if you're into that sort of thing but I wouldn't be opposed to it. With that said, I do have a standing $100.00 bet with people that if Portland makes it to the second round of the playoffs then I will buy the first $100.00 of whatever at the first game of the second round. This is derived from past stats of Paul Allen. He is 0-14 in getting a team that he built to the second round of the playoffs. While he has made changes in the organization and team, I am not positive it's enough to accomplish a second round visit. The bet was made more out of me wanting a reason to celebrate than being a troll. I look forward to enjoying blogging with all of you.
1989.......That was a fun year, other than being screwed in Provo. You must be a big Bill Musgrave fan. Welcome.
Greetings back at you, 1honestfan. Just a little inside tip, if you want to get a big reaction, title your next post, "Greetings Roundball Fanatics".
Thanks, I like to know about others and like that others know about me. Theirs a lot of people here so I suppose I will learn about everyone in due time.
HA HA!!!! Yep..... Honestly, I was a teenager at the time and didn't even know a football team existed in Oregon until I my father was randomly switching channels and landed on the Ducks in the Independence bowl where Musgrave threw a TD pass. I have been a fan ever since. I thought we (The whole state) was cool because we had a football team. At first I thought it was professional until I was educated further on the matter. LOL
Thanks, I like to be personal so that people can realize that I am a human being and not just a screen name.
