The Warriors looked like they were going to win, up by 12 in teh third quarter. Memphis went on a crazy run (30-7 or somthing like that), and the game was out of reach after that point. I saw some bright spots from Pietrus with his defense, and Dunleavy with his handles (did anyone see that move he pulled in teh first quarter? Too bad he missed the layup). I know custodianrules2 is going to be pissed about this, and I noticed it too. In the 3rd quarter, right in the midst of the Memphis run, Muss put a crappy lineup on the floor. LaRue, Richardson, Cheaney, Cardinal, Robinson. What was he thinking? Bad execution by the Warriors and good D in teh third helped the Grizzlies jump out, and they were definitely helped by a few shots rattling in and out (we missed 2 threes in a row- Pietrus and Robinson- that would have brought us within 3). Well, since this season is down the drain, it's good that at least Musselman is starting Pietrus and going with the lineup that we all want to see- Dun, JR, Piet, Cliff, and Damp.
he was probably thinking his other guys needed a rest and the matchups with the grizzlies at the time could buy them some time. that one tricky behind the back play by jwill was awesome, btw.

What was he thinking?</div> Kobeonfire, let's just say I have questioned Musselman's judgement all year long. I mean you could just see the pattern in his late game strategy and know what to expect and that makes him easy to beat no matter how bad your own team is playing. He's not an x's and o's guy nor a percentages guy, which is what you need in a real coach. He's not a man that can make good adjustments coming out of the timeout like other coaches. And then when all things fail, he calls for a center-less, smaller lineups that get out-muscled, out-rebounded, and out-scored. He is just not the all-around coach that could command anybody and I don't blame him for that, because its not his type of team, it's the management's. This is why I think Musselman is gone anyway since Mullin has seen enough of his late game "creativity" and will most likely be calling the shots for next year's coach instead of the incompetent Gary St. Jean. But then again, who knows if Mullin is only being hired to develop the younger players like Dunleavy and to distract the public attention from the fact that St. Jean still has a paycheck with the Warriors. And don't forget owner, Chris Cohan. That guy is so hated, if he were to step inside his own arena he'd get booed or probably beaten in front of his children with aluminum baseball bats. That's why he stays hidden from the media and the public. Plus, he's a weirdo who is probably drilling holes in the player's locker room and peeking through them like in that movie, Porky's. That's the other reason you also never see him.

I think that is 4 games in a row now.</div> I hope we are not tanking games on purpose. You know how lousy the Warriors are with the top 3 picks? We'll probably draft Joe Smith again or whoever Smith.
...Or lucky to have a draw for next season's ticketholders, unless its a hyped up rookie that the media has all eyes upon. Anyone see those fat guy dancers they show at the arena during halftime? Maybe they can have fat women dancers to accompany them. There's a draw right there.
At least if we tank games, we should go down hard. I say start LaRue, Avery, Pietrus, Cheaney, and Cliff.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kobeonfire:</div><div class="quote_post">At least if we tank games, we should go down hard. I say start LaRue, Avery, Pietrus, Cheaney, and Cliff.</div> Yeah why should we have to wait all the way to the 4th quarter for that lineup you mentioned.
After Game Quotes: Clifford Robinson ?The key is to just keep working hard and finish the season strong. We cannot just be waiting for the season to end. I look at it as just respecting the game. The game has put a lot of money in our pockets and let us see a lot of things we never would have without this opportunity. For me, when I get out on the floor I am going to play hard, whether it is the first game or the last.? ?When we are running the open offense, I felt like we were not doing the things that we have to in order to be successful, like moving the ball and having good player movement. We kept the ball on one side and were trying to get people into the post. When you are running that kind of offense, you have to keep the players moving, trying to make a play for someone else.? Mike Dunleavy ?Coming out of timeouts we tend to run a set play, and then we get into our motion offense during the flow of the game. Everything seemed to be working well until the 3rd quarter. I am not sure what it was, if they figured us out, but it seemed to work well until then.?
i like to give musselman the benefit of the doubt...he WAS voted second in the coach of the year last year, just under greg popovich. why don't the warriors just trade him? like gruden. the players don't do their job...that's why they lose. musselman does his job.
The first half, I loved the way Damp did the screen and roll; Memphis couldn't figure it out. Then in the second half GSW went away from that and that killed it for us. That and JWill; it was like he couldn't miss from the field. But yeah, he still has those nice moves.

Man, the memphis game should have been won with Damp because those dudes were centerless. Too bad we couldn't sign a point guard that could actually move faster than a slow motion replay and actually have time to find Dampier in the post. (By the time Damp gets the ball he's double teamed and the clock is already down to single digits). But I guess calling for a high post was the next best thing, even if it was predictable. At least the passer has options to hit Dampier in the paint if he's in deep enough or hit someone slashing to the basket or going to an outside jumper from the wing. Also, I think just the mere fact that Dampier is under the basket makes for easy tip-ins.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">One thing about Warrior Fans that will always hold true is our faithfulness to the Warriors.</div> Amen to that. But suppose we stop going to the games to protest the ownership? Nah, then Cohan will sell the team out of the bay area probably. BTW, anyone notice that they put Cardinal in on a couple plays against James Posey at small forward? Bad mistake. Cardinal is not a perimeter D guy. He's best if you post him at the power forward spot and let him pester the guy and draw charges. But I guess Bo Outlaw and Swift will just outmuscle and outquick him. Still, I would rather have Cardinal step out and hit the 3 to draw their shotblockers away from the paint. And that crap where Dunleavy was facing Jason Williams at point guard on defense was just bonkers. What was the management thinking when they signed Larue? He is good for nothing if he can't play defense. I mean J-will is not a slow guy. BTW he walked on that one play where faked a behind the back pass.
tanking I was at the game last night. After the game another season ticket holder said with a smile on her face that the Warriors were losing on purpose. She said it so matter-of factly that I asked if she had inside information! She seemed almost happy about it. After that I wanted to ask everyone and anyone involved if it was true but I didn't. I saw St. Jean, Dampier and Coach but I couldn't ask and they wouldn't have admitted it anyway. All I said to Coach was "Sorry Coach". They all looked so depressed especially Muss. I just don't think that these players are that good at acting. I saw how upset they were in the 4th quarter. As a season ticket holder, the thought of going to a bunch of automatic losses really ticks me off. Between the game and that comment I walked out of there pretty bummed out.
She's just saying that to make herself feel better I bet. No way would the organization lose on purpose to improve draft lottery position. That is just disrespectful to the fans who came to see and pay to watch a competitve game. On the other hand, maybe she is just too confused to admit Muss can't coach anything despite showing such promise last year. Some say second chance, but he's been doing this type of crap on more than one occassion. I don't know what to make of him, he's great with young players and the uptempo game but it won't work this this year's roster. I know management wants to change direction and the coach is no longer fitting the new look warriors, but this is ridiculous.
