Bobby Jackson sat with ice wrapped around his right thigh and observed his teammates. Kimani Ffriend watched with his injured right thumb set in a hard plastic brace.

John Thomas took the court. That's the good news for him.

The bad news is he still hasn't completed a contact practice.

Given the circumstances, Griz coach Mike Fratello conducted a light workout Thursday as the team decided to lick its basketball wounds and mend physical ailments.

Wright and Thomas participated in only part of the workout.

Jackson sat out with a strained right hamstring he suffered Wednesday night during the Grizzlies' 88-84 loss at Cleveland. He was to be re-evaluated Thursday afternoon at the Campbell Clinic.

"I've never had hamstring problems," Jackson said. "It's nothing major. The only thing I need is rest."

Thomas hasn't played in any of the Grizzlies' four exhibition outings but said he would practice today.

"It didn't bother me," Thomas said Thursday of his sprained ankle. "I'm just watching it on the jumping. I've been a little hesitant because every time I come down I tweak it a little bit."

Barring a setback, Thomas will attempt to play Saturday when the Griz host Houston.

"We know what we saw of him as an outsider. But until you see him up close, you're not really sure," Fratello said. "We could really use him right now. If and when he comes back, we'll evaluate whatever time is left." </div>
