"Off the top of my head, there are eight to 10 players who are draftable players," David Pendergraft, director of player personnel for the Seattle SuperSonics, said in between games of a doubleheader. "It is convenient to see them in all in one place, playing against good competition."

Standing behind Pendergraft was a middle-aged man wearing a nifty blazer and carrying a lifetime of hoop experience. And he is well aware of the talent in this country of 10 million in eastern Europe.

Marin Sedlacek is director of youth programs for Crvena Zvezda (Red Star), one of several top basketball clubs in his native Belgrade. Sedlacek, who was born here in 1959, is also in his fourth season as a European scout for the Grizzlies. </div>
