What do the Grizzlies need to do? Get a coach was one thing we needed to address this off-season and we did a great job IMO bringing in Marc Iavaroni.- We need to get a GM. Jerry West is leaving the Grizzlies after the draft. Marc Jackson is rumored to be the leading candidate for the job, with Kiki Vandeweghe behind him.- We need to not screw up in the draft. If Conley Jr. was to fall, I think we should definatly take him with the uncertainty we have with Lowry after his injury last season and with Stoudamire and Atkins being old. If Conley is taken though we definatly need to pick up a foward. Horford and Yi are both possibilities.- Sign a good FA. We have enough cap space to bring in a solid FA. If we draft a PG we need to sign a forward and vice versa.- Make a trade or two maybe. I really don't want to see Gasol leave, because I feel like he can thrive under the type of offense Iavaroni wants to set up in Memphis. Same for Miller. He's our only true shooter, and last season picked up the scoring and was close to being an All-Star. He's a hard worker and I don't want to see him go either. But, if the right deal comes up to make the team better, we may have to part with one of them.Thoughs and opinions?
I agree with just about everything excelpt Conley. True Lowry only played a few games and its uncertain about his hand, but he wasnt known for his shooting anyways so he isnt losing much. All of his strengths arent really based around his hand and its a common injury, I think he will recover. And true Stoudemire is old(atkins isnt coming back probably) but that doesn't mean he cant split minutes with Lowry and Junior(who turns out to be a solid backup PG). And as you mentioned we have the cap space. Theres better PGs who could be on the market(like Mo Williams, Billups etc.) than there are big men. So I think even if Conley drops, we should still take either Brewer(even tho he would play the 3), Yi, Wright or Horford. We will probably end up taking Brandan Wright anyways. And if theres going to be a trade with Gasol..our draft will most likely be totally different. Miller might be sent somewhere. People would say Hakim Warrick the most likely to be traded...but Iavaroni speaks very highly on him, so I doubt Iavaroni wants him traded.Honestly, I dont see us making any big trades cause I think we have a very good mix of youth and veteren and this will give us the oppunity to make the playoffs for alotve year(and I still believe Memphis is capable of making the 08 playoffs).I dont know about the whole GM thing...but it seems Marc Jackson is in the lead...but I dont want Kiki at all...
