This tut will show you how to make a real nice grunge/abstract sig and avy set. First off we are going to make a new document by pressing Ctrl+N. Make the size 450 pixels for the width, 120 pixels for height and make the background contents white.

Now go to filter/render/clouds. If you don?t have a fairly light BG by now press Ctrl+F to repeat the step.

Now make a new layer and with some soft abstract brushes, brush on black. Now make a new layer and go over it with the same brush set you decided to use, and brush with white. Remember: Make a new layer every time you decide to make a new color with the brushes.

Now with some hard abstract brushes, go over on black on a new layer until you have something you like. Do the same with white on the hard abstract brushes.

Now go to Layer/New Adjustment Layer/ Color Balance Layer, and move the dots until you find a nice green color that you like and press Ctrl+F to repeat the clouds filter.

Now go to Layer/New Adjustment Layer/ Color Balance Layer and make a yellow color and press Ctrl+F.

Now go to Layer/ New Adjustment Layer/ Brightness & Contrast Layer

Go to a contrast that you like and you should have something like this

Go to Layer/New Adjustment Layer/ Color Balance Layer and make a greenish color. Press Ctrl+F.

Now you can put a picture on. I?m gonna suggest using a Prince Of Persia Render For the theme we are aiming for. Two to choose from.

I?m gonna use the bottom one.

Now copy paste it onto your sig and put it where you want. Also cut out the ?rendered by? text. Leave it over the color balance layers.

Now download this http://www.dafont.com/en/search.php?nq=1&q=Ringbearer font onto your computer. Now type what you want and go to blending options. Go to drop shadow. Make the default options but change the distance to 2. Go to inner shadow leave the default options, but make the distance to 4. Go to inner glow, make the color white and leave it on the default options. Go to bevel and emboss leave the default settings. Go to satin and leave it to the default settings. Then go to stroke, make the color black, and make it 1 px. Now if the text isn?t under the color balance layers, do it now.

Now download this font http://www.dafont.com/en/search.php?nq=1&q=Bitdust+Two and maybe make a quote. Also make the color white on the text settings. When you are done with your quote, add a 1 px black stroke on the blending options. Leave this text layer over the new color balance layers. We are almost done now with your sig. Make a new layer and now use your rectangular marquee tool to get a small amount of space at the edge of the sig. Go to Edit/Stroke and make it a 2 px white stroke on the center option. Now go to Edit/Stroke and make it a 1 px stroke on center option.

Save this as a jpg now. We are now done with your sig. Now as for your avy, open up a new document 80 px width by 80 px height. Drag your jpg sig onto the new document. Try to get a part of his face. Now make a new layer, go to Edit/Stroke and make it a 2 px white stroke on the center option. Now go to Edit/Stroke and make it a 1 px stroke on center option. Save the avy as a png.

and you are done with your sig/avy set

Made this for another board, but figured, what the hell.

Also once you master the basics of the BG and text using this tutorial and are a good cropper, your sigs will turn out very nice [IMG]
