Damn, Carrol almost nailed that shot at the end of the quarter.

Good start by the Suns and a great game so far by Hill (nine points). A few too many times down the court where someone took the first shot they saw though.

No Amare again tonight. Feed I was watching it on went to Nets-Hawks. Lame. So I've missed most of it.

But Suns are up 59-37 at the half.

We're most difficult to defend when we're using everyone as an option and mixing it up," said Suns guard Steve Nash, a rare second fiddle in assists to Boris Diaw.

Diaw, starting at center in place of Stoudemire, defended Emeka Okafor early to start his scoreless night and handed out 11 assists to go with 15 points. It was his first double-double since March 22.

"We're finding our rhythm," said Diaw, who still can't jump much off a tender left ankle. "We've always been a pretty good team on the road. It's good that we can focus when we play away."

Bell entered Friday having made six of 30 shots this season but hit 4 of 9 three-point tries and contributed to a defense that held the Bobcats scoreless for 4 1/2 minutes of the second quarter.

"Raja of old," said Suns coach Mike D'Antoni, who earlier called him the "heart and soul" of the team. "And you knew it was coming. It was just a matter of time. He will always be there."

The Bobcats were 2-0 for the first time ever entering the game but disintegrated with Raymond Felton injuring his left knee (the MRI was negative) and the weak fan turnout more focused on a crowd tussle while Shawn Marion was going on a tear for an 80-47 Suns lead.

Charlotte shot 36.6 percent with its starters going 12 for 40 from the field.

"We're 3-1 and we're not playing great yet," Suns forward Grant Hill said
