I know it's still early, but there have been a few preseason games, soI'm sure thishas crossed your mindmore than once. I want to know what you think ourPG-SG rotationwill look like for the majority of the season.
(mpg)
Rafer(20)/Head(15)/James(10)/Francis(3)
Bonzi(18)/T-Mac(18)Francis(12)
The backcourt is very crowded, and it's going to be tough for coach Adelman to allocate playing time. When Rafer is out there, the offense is much smoother with a lot less turnovers. I think Bonzi should start at SG next to T-Mac. All of Rick Adelman's successful teams had more than a one-two scoring punch. The Sacramento team that went to the WCF had four.
It would be a crime to let Luther Head rot on the bench. I believe he deserves as much, if not, moreplaying timethan Mike James and Steve Francis. Headhas a lot of potential, plus we don't even know if Francis will be here next season. I know I could say the same about Bonzi, but he is the third best offensive player we have, and I have imagined him and Yao working the post like no other SG/Center combo for over a year now.
What do you guys think?

Edit:
It sucks that I left off Kirk Snyder and Aaron Brooks. I guess we could send Brooks to the NBDL, but I reallly like Snyder. I believe he still has potential.Last season,he was great at making strong cuts to the basket, andit seems like he would thrive in Adelman's motion offense...as well as Jon Lucas (way out of left field) but it looks like he's going to get cut. No teams will trade with us for these players until we make our cuts. It's not like they are going to demand a high contract.

I think something like this:
PG: Alston , James
SG: McGrady, James, Head, Bonzi
I don't think there's enough minutes to play Alston and James and Head and Bonzi AND Francis. One of them is going to be out, and I'm guessing Francis right now. Even Head will likely get far fewer minutes than he got his first two years (around 15 mpg).

I was thinking Francis would be the odd man out. After he took a huge pay cut to play here...He could have easily gotten the MLE.
Maybe if Scola played backup C, Battier could get some minutes at PF allowing Bonzi/T-Mac more minutes at the SF position. Nevermind, at least injuries wont effect us as much.

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports...kn/5231976.html

QUOTE

That, however, means that players accustomed to receiving extensive playing time won't.
"Steve is one of the guys we're talking about," Adelman said of the competition for playing time. "As far as where he is as far as fitting into the offense, he has probably struggled more than some of the other guys in that area."
Adelman cited Francis' fitness for his slower start, but Francis said he did not believe his conditioning was an issue and would have his game in shape by the time the season begins Oct. 30 in Los Angeles against the Lakers.

Adelman says what most of us have observed. Steve is really having a tough time fitting into the offense. Both him and Kirk Snyder have a similar problem. When they receive the ball, it takes them a second or two to make their next move -- whether its a pass, or a shot, or a drive. It's not fluid, and that's especially needed in our offense. I never thought I'd say this before, but I think Snyder will be cut (or traded), and Francis is going to be warming the bench most nights.

It's sad. I was happy to see Stevie back home and I expected him to do whatever it takes to improve this team. I'm not saying that he's slacking off. He just doesn't fit right now. Hopefully he can learn.
