I have been to only one game, against the Mavericks, so I have a very small sample size to judge against. For those that go to multiple games, what is your opinion of the crowds getting into the games? Can we get to the point so that the crowd makes noise the entire game, like a good college arena? I think somewhere like Sacramento pulls that off to a certain degree. I want the crowd to do more than get loud when there is a dunk or a three made.
Gund Arena has not been anything close to how Richfield Coliseum was. Back then in the late 80's when the Price, Daugherty, Nance ere was in it's prime, the crowd was electric. Many don't like how the prices have went up and now the Gund is mostly filled with rich business type yuppies that refuse to leave their seat even to urinate.
Fans don't get excited for the simple fact that most of the people that go to the games go "just to go." While the real fans sit at home and watch the games or listen to Joe Tait.
Cleveland is a rabid sports town. Once the Cavs start to become an elite team again, the place will fill up and the crowds will get a lot more lively. The Cavs finally have a legit superstar for a crowd pleaser and this definitely helps. The Cavs are up to their 8th sellout of the year I believe. I know the last time I was home for a weekend I wanted to get up to the Spurs game, but it was all sold out. Who would have guessed that it would become hard to get Cavs tickets a few shorts years ago?
What are ways to change the atmosphere and educate fans when to yell? Becuase it sounds like a joke, but you really have to let people know these kinds of things. I remember the first time I went to a Buckeye game...I didn't know anything about the chants or anything, but once told, everything was cool. I don't expect Cavs to yell from start to finish like they do at the Shoe, but a little more noise s/b expected. Do you think soemthing like a C-A-V-S cheer can go around the bowl ala the O-H-I-O cheer does for the Buckeyes? Also, "Hang On Sloopy" should be played at all games. I think they do this at CBS.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting insshc:</div><div class="quote_post">i'm going to my first game at the gund by myself against the pacers, what's the parking like?</div> Park in the Tower City parking lot - it's only 6 bucks and it is close to the highway when you need to leave. There is also a walkway right into the Gund. For the life of me I don't know why everyone doesn't park there, why pay $15 to park in the garage in the middle of the city and wait a half hour to get out? You can also walk around the mall alittle if you go early, again there is a walkway to the Gund so you don't even have to go outside.
I went to that Spurs game, it didn't get exciting till about the mid way through the 4th. When the fans do get into it though, it's a thing of art. It's so much fun chanting and doing all that stuff. Plus if they win late in the game it gets really loud. I liked going myself, wish there would be more games like that one.
The Sacramento Kings Mascot was right.. It takes free Pizza to get loud... I've been to about 7 games and they have all been good and it gets real good, but I hate these stupid people who leave really early ex. Atlanta game on wednesday.. Your suppose to support your team... It spots out True fans or people who are here to see LeBron and leave early to beat traffic..

The Gund has some cheers, but that won't cut it, the crowd just has to really support their team. I would love to have fans like Seattle, Indiana, or even Utah. I want cheers after every basket, I want the place so loud in the 4th to where you can't hear the person next to you. Teams that have crowds like that have a huge advantage. No one is afraid of the Gund.
^ That was the game with the LeBron reverse slam on the break right? Yeah Gund Arena sounded really hyped up after that play. It was one of the best moments this year.
yeah, I also went to the game and there was something about the Crowd that seemed just good... I've always dreamed that the Gund can be like Arco Arena where the next day you lost your voice and your ears hurt... Maybe one day it can happen... I'm getting ready to go to the game tonight, watch out for the Just B-Ball sign...
