Just read an article on this guy, anyone watch his fight have any thoughts? The WW division has always been one of the deepest divisions in the UFC can this guy actually make a dent? http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/mma--gunnar-nelson-has-the-tools-to-be-one-of-the-ufc-s-brightest-stars-210722085.html;_ylt=Au1yrvidhMM_oGdVdHKgJq1ShgM6;_ylu=X3oDMTQ0aXM0bnU5BG1pdANGRUFUVVJFRCBNZWdhdHJvbiBDQU5BREEgRlAEcGtnA2NlYzBjNDhlLWZkMmQtM2FjNy1iNDZkLTlhZTE3MTA2NmYxOQRwb3MDNQRzZWMDbWVnYXRyb24EdmVyA2IzM2E3NDczLTcxNmUtMTFlMi1iYmZmLTY3NWM3OTAyMmUxNw--;_ylg=X3oDMTFlcXQ5NzcwBGludGwDY2EEbGFuZwNlbi1jYQRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdAMEcHQDc2VjdGlvbnM-;_ylv=3
I'm curious to see how he fares against guys in the division with good TDD and striking, like Thiago Alves or Martin Kampmann. We already know what kind of grappler Nelson is but how far along are his other skills? This is why Jorge Santiago is a good match-up for him. He's a black belt that has never been submitted in MMA. Demian Maia's win over Jon Fitch opened a lot of eyes. Maia vs. Nelson would be excellent although they are at different career arcs right now. We didn't get to see Maia vs. Rousmiar Palhares so this might be the next best thing--supposing Palhares isn't matched up with Roger Gracie in the near future.
