Hakim goes up against Josh Smith, Andre Igoudala, and Nate Robinson in the dunk contest tonight. Any predictions? I'd like to see Hakim win, but his style is different from the style that typically wins you a dunk contest. He's good for statement dunks in games, but how many times have you seen him go between his legs or windmill on the fastbreak? Who knows, maybe he'll surprise me.
I'm pulling for Hakim just because no one expects him to win. Plus, him and Melo were my favourite college players.
I think Hakim's gonna surprise a lot of people. Obviously his best dunks are in-game, dunking on someone's head...but if when you're known as a dunker, you've gotta have some kind of skill. He's my dark horse to win the event.
Hakim obviously enters as the forth favorite to win the competition but I think he'll surprise some people. With Nate already being loved by the judges because of his height, Josh Smith well we all know what he can do, and Iguodala just put on a show last night nobody is really thinking about Hakim.
Sir Desmond put it best when describing Hakim as a 'game dunker'. He'll acquit himself well but i was hoping Dahntay would be in Hakim's spot.
Warrick really exceeded my expectations. I really think that with those dunks he could have won or at least made the finals of the last two dunk contests. This particular dunk contest just happened to feature Andre Igoudala, one of the best dunkers in the last ten years, and Nate Robinson, a 5-9 kid who could throw down between-the-legs jams. I'd take Warrick's dunks over Smith's or Jones' the years they won it though. I also think Warrick was at a disadvantage going first. His first dunk was certainly better than a 44, or whatever they gave him. Had the judges not been so impressed by Robinson's height, we could have seen Warrick in the finals. OT - Where was Gasol at the Western Conference All-Star Practice? I watched the whole thing and Gasol was the only player missing. Maybe the bad weather in Memphis has held him back?

Warrick's first dunk was waaaaaay better than Iguodala's first dunk, yet Iguodala got the higher score. They really, really need to change the way they judge the Slam Dunk competition.

Not only wasn't he at the practice but he wasn't involved in the previous days media session either. I've not seen him with his West teammates at all, would love to know why that is.
Hakims dunks were pretty good IMO. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the contest again. (With some better judges. Hakims first dunk was better than a 44.)
