Hmm, good job locking him up. But why not bring the guy off the bench ala Manu and Barbosa.

So as of right now 2010 looks like:

    PG: Stuckey
    SG. Hamilton - Afflalo
    SF: Prince
    PF: Maxiell
    C: Johnson

I cant imagine one of Bosh, LeBron, or Wade not wanting to come into that situation.

I'm starting to wonder if Joe Dumars was drugged by Isiah Thomas. These last two moves by the Pistons were uncharacteristic of Dumars.

I'm confused, if they don't give him an extension, they could of offered 2 max contracts where they would of more than likely gotten LeBron, Bosh, Wade, or Melo if they could of guaranteed getting another one from that group.

Odds are the Pistons wouldnt have been able to land two of those guys. I think Dumars is thinking that if he lets Sheed expire and makes a run at Boozer or another good FA this summer the Pistons have the most talent and best opportunity to win right away to offer someone like Bosh, LeBron, or Wade.

3rd year is not guaranteed, right? So it's just a two year contract, ending in 2010, or does this go to the end of Rip's contract?

I doubt that they'd have gotten any of those guys. They're not just going to be looking for max deals, but they'll probably want to be in a big market (i.e. NJ, NY, LA, etc.).
