Baltimore Orioles designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero has a fractured bone in his right hand, an injury that forced him to miss Friday night's game against the Cleveland Indians and could land him on the disabled list.

Guerrero has not played since being struck in the hand by a pitch from the Boston Red Sox's Kyle Weiland on Sunday. He was too sore to play Thursday against the Indians but had hoped to return Friday.

"He went in the cage, thought he might be able to play today," manager Buck Showalter said Friday afternoon. "That did not go well."
