Yesterday 15 years ago college star Hank Gathers collapsed on a college basketball court, later that day at 6:55 PM a hospital pronounced Hank dead, at the age of 23. Gathers put his life on the line to play basketball, doctors told him he shouldn't play but his love for the game, and dream to make it to the next level were overwhelming. I didn't see a thread yet so I thought I would make one, being that it was a low point in college basketball.
He was an amazing player, and after watching highlights and game film of him it is truly a tragedy that he left so early. There is nothing more touching than watching the clip of his teammate who I forgot's name shooting a freethrow like Hank did. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
