Just to play devil's advocate--how is this any different from the WNBA? Why is it OK to have a league based on gender but not one based on skin color?
Yeah, I kinda am. Sure, there are a few white americans who are good enough to play in the NBA, but not many. I don't think it's too far off a comparison. I bet Diana Taurasi is better than some NBDLers, especially some of the white ones.

Well, duh...it's because in slavery times the masters bred the smart white girls with the fundamentalist white boys, and created a monster race of non-athletic, "fundamental" players.

You know it's true, and that is why you respond that way. There are black actor of the year awards, gay actor of the year awards, gay days at theme parks where gay people get discounts for being gay, etc. All kind of little obscure things for people based on race and sexuality that no one says a thing about for fear of being politically correct. How do you think people would respond if there was a straight day at theme parks where straight people got discounts based on their heterosexuality? What if there were white actor of the year awards where blacks, latinos, asians, etc couldn't get nominated? What if there was a straight pride parade or a straight pride march? Everyone would be up in fucking arms. I never said the league was right in what they're doing, nor did I implied that I agree with their actions. I am just very tired of big shit being made about white (straight males) doing things while shit like what I mentioned above goes on. You cannot achieve equality if you actively campaign to get special treatment over the people you strive to be seen with as equal.
no the question would be why is a league that discriminates on gender ok but one that discriminates on race not ok. i don't give a shit about this league and i highly doubt anyone does other than people wanting to find something to get pissed off about. it will be a huge failure and some racist guys will have wasted their money. who cares?
Well i guess the answer is the WNBA discriminates on gender because they want to create a lague to give women the opportunity to play basketball. The other league is discriminating on race because they feel black players play street ball and are a danger to fans. Personally, I see why one is OK and one is not.

u're extrapolating things that u shouldnt. the reason why i enjoy sports is because its meritocracy. we want to know who's better- lebron or kobe? the cavs or lakers? portland or dallas? bosh or amare? these questions intrigue us and we dont care who these players are. this racist adventure undermines the basic tenet of sport- it runs from merit and embraces something imagined (i.e. the fundamental, pure white basketball player) that doesnt exist.
You're focusing on the motivation ("They're racist!") and the faulty logic ("White players embrace fundamentals!") which are both egregious, and those aspects are beyond dispute. What is of greater interest to me is the notion that it is OK to acknowledge that men are genetically predisposed to be generally superior at basketball, thereby justifying a lower-tier league for women, but it is not OK to acknowledge that West-African-Americans are genetically predisposed to be generally superior at basketball, thereby justifying a lower-tier league for non-blacks. Why are gender-based physical differences accepted, but race-based physical differences ignored or disputed?
