And for his Birthday, he does this:
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CAPE TOWN, South Africa, September 12, 2005 ? Knicks coach Larry Brown did his part to ensure basketball grows in all the good ways, donating a brand new basketball court to an impoverished South African community that was unveiled yesterday. The Larry Brown Court was officially christened at Siyuviseni Primary School in Khayelitsha township by the Hoops 4 Hope organization in a celebration that included school children, community members, community leaders and local and international guests. ?I have no words for Larry Brown? said Constable Wayza, representing the crime and safety department, ?no words can express what this court will do for us in Khayelitsha. It will give kids a place to come everyday, learn basketball and stay away from crime?.

Larry Brown has joined the growing list of supporters for Hoops 4 Hope, a South African and Zimbabwe community organization that uses basketball as a vehicle for social and personal change. Despite his busy schedule and presence as one of the most in-demand figures in sports, Brown says he is more than happy to lend his support to this outstanding charity.

"I think people recognize what a great charity this is and how great it is for people to share the things that we take for granted. I have been lucky to understand the power of sport as a way of bringing people closer together, this organization is wonderful", says Coach Brown.</div>
