He got 7 FT yesteday and 10 today and just missed one shot(16-17). We are now more powerful in the paint.
He had 19 points on both games but he needs to assert and position himself well on the paint. He seems to have a hard time getting the ball and easily gets distracted if the opposing player is much more aggressive on defense. Another thing is his rebounding. Very poor and lacks energy in grabbing those missed shots above him. He always gets boxed out. Anyway he''ll have the feel of the game as the season begins.
Btw, how did the added muscle seem to affect Yao's game? Did he seem to overpower opponents at times and maintained his position more often?
Yes. That seemed to be the case whenever he scored from the highlights I seen. I've seen a total of five highlights or so of him scoring and in each and every one of them he's backing the guy down and shooting over him and throwing down a little dunk. He really does seem more physical. However at the same time I think this part of his game will deteriorate as the season goes on due to his conditioning problem and the physicality he now has to his game might start to wear him down eventually.
He is way more physical and I'm more confident than ever about his ability to average 20 points a game. In the fantasy league where my draft hasn't happened yet...Yao looks to be my second round pick.
