Last three games Harris hasnt been starting and been replaced by the much taller Devean George. Now against teams that have taller backcourts like Houston, Lakers, etc, I can see why, but last night we played the Bucks who without Michael Redd at the two gaurd spot become really short in a hurry. Mo Williams, Charlie Bell, Earl Boykins all stand shorter than 6-2 or so. We started George though.Do you think Avery is going to start George more as the season goes on, or will he go back to Harris? Does it really matter to the success of the team? Is George a better fit in the starting lineup?I think we need to go back to Harris and Terry in the backcourt. My whole thing is that George hasnt really started the last few games really great. He didnt score his 9 points against the Bucks until the 4th quarter, had a sub par game against Houston and had a good game against Phila. The effect of this move though is showed in Harris's play. The last two games he's scored a total of 5 points and 3 assists. I think we dont really add anything with George in the starting lineup and take away from Harris play by doing this. With Harris starting though, George still makes a great impact on the game while not taking anything away from Harris play. What do ya'll think?
Harris is really struggling with George's increased role on the team. Avery tends to rely on guys who he trusts and still seems he doesn't have trust in Harris. Is it me or when he has the chance, he takes the other player over Harris. Last year with Griffin and now this year with George. Now I like Griff and George, but if they are going to be impacting Harris' development and minutes, I'm not for it. So I agree with you said pj, we should get back to starting Harris and giving him key minutes.
I think that a spark plug off the bench like Devin Harris is always a good thing. I didnt really read what you had to say (sorry, haha), and he might be struggling on the bench right now, but it wont last for long. Devean George is an experienced player, good defender, good shooter, and I think it doesn't matter who starts, as much as who plays more, and who finishes the games. Manu Ginobili went to the bench and I think he is playing just as much, and IMO, he is playing better.
Thing is, George is the one getting the minutes at the end of games as well. Harris is just getting the short end of the stick. I'm thinking because of the lack of size with Harris and Terry out there but that's basically saying Harris was a bust for us. I mean we took him with the 5th pick, he has potential and shown it. But still is played over by other players.
