Interesting trade. Hartnell has 2 more years in his contract than Umberger, so the Flyers get a better (less worse?) contract while the BJ's get a good, tough player on their roster.

    Like the trade for Columbus.

Weird that two division rivals got together like this. Shows what the Flyers think of Hartnell if they were willing to flip him to a division rival.

Cap hit a wash really. Longer deal for Hartnell as you said. I think Hartnell is better.

if Hartnell can be that 20 plus goal scorer and add his "toughness" then yes I think the BJ's made a very good deal, not sure where Flyers are going with this as they lose some toughness for a better two way player??

Hartnell has better numbers but that is a terrible contract. 5 more years at $4.75m cap hit for a PP guy who seems to be getting old quick. He is only 32 but looks slow and old. They are both bad contracts but I think I would rather have Umberger at 3 years than Hart at 5 and Umberger sukkkks

Columbus probably needs to eat up cap space since looking at their contracts other than Horton (and now Hartnell) they don't have any bad contracts.
