I could get $3,700 (tax free they say) for participating in a study at a lab. Basically they give you a drug, and see how your body metabolizes it. It's a 17 day study, can't leave their place.

You basically get a dorm style room. In the room is a TV with satellite channels. Internet so you can bring a laptop.

They have common rooms with ping pong tables, foosball, tv's, darts, pool table, etc.

Basically it's $3700 to sit around on the internet doing whatever. Can bring my guitar and play a bunch of crap. And just kickback watch TV. Seems like such good money. Could buy a 1080p TV, Tivo, new set of golf clubs, and still have a thousand banked for other spending.

Anyone participate in a similar thing?

What's more frightening is that HCP only works with Male Asses. No emotional attachments to worry about from what I could gather.

You are gambling with your body unless you have details of the toxicity of the drug and what Phase study it is. Basically you risk having side effects from the drug they are testing. Common ones are headaches and gastro intestinal problems. However, they could be worse.

Try reading on the internet about the different Phases of drug testing that pharmaceutical companies must do, in order to get drugs approved by the FDA. One phase is where they test toxicity with humans (they have already done it on animals). This is sometimes even done on volunteer prisoners, since it is very risky. Another phase is where they are testing for the efficacy of the drug. This is probably what your study is. Drugs often don't pass because the side effects are too severe.

Personally, without clear details of the drug itself (toxicity, mechanism of action, results of other trials of the drug), details which you will never be given, I wouldn't participate.
