As a freshman, he averaged 6.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 3.8 bpg, while shooting 55.4% from the field. Thabeet is an outstanding shot-blocker due to his size, and moves very well for his size. Tied a UConn record by recording 10 blocks in one game. Was named to All-Big East Rookie Team.Concerns about his game are his virtually non-existant offensive game and poor free-throw shooting. More of a project at this point, due to his only value being a shot-blocker. Turning out to be a solid prospect, did pretty well on the show down against Hibbert. Can run the floor pretty well, and of course his shot blocking ability. I'd say he's a late lottery pick to mid first rounder, he's also very raw, and very ugly.
he doesn't wow you with his offensive game, but his ability to block shots and his length, would have me interested in him.
Yeah he isn't great but he looks like a solid back-up right now to a good team like the Spurs or Suns. You don't want to build around him but given the right coaches and system, he will be more than Sene.

This is a guy who I completely wrote off last year. I heard all the hype when he was coming into UConn, was excited to see this guy play. Then I did. Wow he looked fugging AWFUL. Dude looked like he'd never seen a basketball court in his life. Didn't know wtf he was doing, couldn't do anything but block shots which was really more just him being in the right place at the right time (and being 7'2). He really surprised me in his sophomore season. I turned on UConn games expecting this guy to make everything a clusterfuck but he was actually playing well. He made tremendous progress mentally over the course of a year. He actually had an idea of where to be to get a rebound, how to box out, how to make rotations, where to go on offense, etc. Obviously his hallmark will always be his defense. Hes got the 7'2 body and hes a good athlete. Hes not super explosive like Dwight Howard or Chandler, not even close, but as far as 7'2 guys go hes about as good as they come. Hes fluid, runs the floor well, has a nice vertical jump, quick off his feet, nice lateral quickness for a guy that big. His shotblock timing is quite good and he gets to a lot of balls that you don't think he can get to. Hes really a presence down there. His man defense wasn't really tested that much in college but hes got all the tools to be pretty good in the league; huge, long arms, moves well, stays down pretty well, and I would venture to say that he could even become a pretty intelligent defender with some more experience and coaching. His IQ is still a little lacking but based on the strides made from Fr. season to So. season theres a lot of hope for him. His rebounding isn't really anything special but its solid. His job was always to send guys away and let Jeff Adrien (who is a fuggin stud btw) mop up on the glass. On offense hes pretty much what you expect; very raw, hands are a little sketchy but not terrible, can finish when he gets the ball under the hoop but hes not an offensive threat. I don't think he'll ever be much of a threat on the block, in the pick and roll, and even with a jumpshot. But he is adequate at catching and finishing which is the bare essentials in the NBA. Its hard to project a guy like this because you don't know where hes going to taper off. The sky is the limit for him but I would figure that he doesn't make it all the way to the apex of his potential. He could end up being a career reserve, legit starter, maybe even All-defensive team player.
