Good question. Only time will tell. They've been so up and down that it would be impossible to say for sure if this new found hustle is here to stay. Either way it benefits the Bulls that they are playing good right now. It'll be easier to get teams to want them.

Noah's been so so but Thomas has been playing great, easily the most exciting player on the team. These last few games he's started to remind me of Shawn Kemp in his prime.

I'd hate to see Tyrus go since he's been playing so awesome but I'm sure if the Bulls are in trade talks with Phoenix, they're gonna want him. This makes it even less likely that the Bulls will pull the trigger though.

Hopefully they turn the corner into Phoenix (although Noah can stay...)

I think both have turned the corner offensively and are doing better rebouning wise, but both are still pretty poor defenders, despite their glossy block numbers.

I see it a different way. I think there is no way the Bulls had enough ammunition to get Amare without a promising young player on a cheap contract. Perhaps Tyrus has recently become that player. Otherwise, I think we had no hope of a deal.

I disagree somewhat with this, just because John Paxson and Steve Kerr are good friends. That's gives us a good leg up.

Assuming Miami doesn't offer Beasley, which I doubt they will (a theoretically good player on a rookie contract that won't be due for an extension until after 2010....), then we are by far the favorites.

Thomas isn't even that good. Thomas' best 7 game stretch of his career is still worse than Amare's career averages. That's just something to think about. Last season, Amare scored 25 PPG on 65.6 TS%. I don't think people realize how insane that is. That makes him by far the best offensive player in the NBA.

In his last 4 full seasons, he's averaging 20+ PPG and 60+ TS%.

If John Paxson isn't willing to trade Tyrus Thomas for that, then he is an idiot, and deserves to be fired. Who cares if we have to give Amare a max contract. He deserves it.

He also played in a high pace system with a PG who won two MVP's and also doesn't play much defense. I don't see how Tyrus isn't involved in the deal though, since there isn't a lot of time at the PF left over.

I do think TT and Noah have turned some corner, whether they turn back remains to be seen.

Tyrus Thomas plays in a high pace system with a PG who doesn't play much defense, and he doesn't score a ton of points at a high efficiency....

I'd say TT has turned a corner is anyone is stating that he shouldn't be traded for Amare.

The no defense was in relation to Amare, not the PG.

I dunno. I don't think Noah has really "turned the corner" because I don't think he's much different as a player than he was last year. The important thing with him, I think, is that he's apparently taking the game's off-court requirements a bit more seriously. I'm pretty comfortable with calling him a young Tyson Chandler. His biggest problem seems to be that, like Tyson and especially early in his career, he gets flustered and picks up lots of stupid fouls. And he's too weak. Both of these things can be overcome.

Question for folks. Folks might have noticed the Chandler trade rumor. Think the Hornets would trade Chandler for Gooden + Noah? I do. Based on the Bulls's current cap situation, I wouldn't.

So I think he's progressing fine.

Tyrus, I guess I'm still a skeptic, but it's hard to ignore his production over the last month and a half or so has really picked up. Really since mid december he's shooting the ball just fine after his ridiculously bad start to things. My main concern is that he's (and Noah) are still not strong enough and that Thomas' rebounding up until the last couple weeks has generally been mediocre at best. It was a reflection of doing a really crummy job of boxing out... a lot. But it's hard to argue with something like 5 double digit rebounding performances in his last seven games. If he can keep a solid pace in both rebounding and shooting, for the next several weeks, I think I'll be willing to deem him around the corner.

I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls it off. Unfortunately, I also wouldn't be surprised if he Gooden comes back, takes/is given Tyrus' job, and Tyrus goes back in a funk. I guess either way, the question is only a few weeks from answering.

Another Tyrus/Noah question... I think I'd like to challenge the conventional wisdom that Tyrus should be the one to go for Amare if we make a play for him. The more I think about it, the more I think I'd like to see how Amare/Tyrus works out. Amare and the Suns as a team played their best ball with Amare basically as the five next to Marion or Diaw.

Tyrus has some similarities to those guys. Noah have very few, and in truth, he's a weaker center, at least over the next couple of years, than Amare, even if it's Noah's ultimate position. I question just how ideal it's going to be to pair up Noah and Amare offensively, and I don't see much of an advantage defensively.

I assume most people seeing TT as the one to go is b/c he is the more desirable of the two players. And we are going to have to give up someone besides Larry Hughes.

Oh c'mon, Larry's got a lot of value around the league! :ghoti:

But yeah, I'm not sure about Noah vs. Tyrus around the league. I'd think lots of teams would prefer Noah. He's bigger, has the purportedly "high motor" teams crave, and has another year on his rookie deal.

Unfortunately, since the Suns just drafted Robin Lopez, they probably aren't one of those teams.

I don't know...Tyrus is 1.5 years younger and would seem to have a much higher celling.

But if Suns would take Larry and Thabo and Noah and a 1st.
