This is a good read on Will Barton with some Blazers info on his time in Portland. Wish there was a way to get him back this summer. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...ecaptured-thrill-denver-nuggets-darkest-s-nba
Looks like he still wishes it worked out in Portland. He’s probably priced himself out of our range, and wants to be a starter anyway. Wish he’d come back though.
Another reason why we should have just traded LA instead of trying to make him happy. Sounds like he would be willing to come back but with just the MLE and financial commitments to Harkless and Turner, a return is unlikely. Hope he gets paid this offseason as he seemed like a great kid.
Not at the $ he's looking for. The more I watch him, the more he seems like a flawed player. Lotta empty stats, but at least he's producing.
The only realistic way to bring Barton back would be a sign and trade which I would think Denver would like rather than lose him for nothing and Barton can push in that direction if he wants. That way we would be sending out matching salaries and keeping our cap numbers very similar.
I don't think that there's much chance he's going to get the $ he's hoping for: "The only teams that are projected to possess $10 million or more in cap space are the Hawks ($21 million), Nets ($15 million), Bulls ($24 million), Mavericks ($20 million), Lakers ($35 million), 76ers ($30 million) and Suns ($17 million). This is also a fairly deep wing class, headlined by stars Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Paul George along with Danny Green (player option), Trevor Ariza, J.J. Redick, Rodney Hood (restricted), Avery Bradley, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Barton."
Good read. I'd love to see him back. If it happened, his first game back, the crowd at the Moda Center would go nuts.
I can hear the chants... “PEOPLE’S CHAMP! PEOPLE’S CHAMP! PEOPLE’S CHAMP!“ My favorite interview of his was after a game he went off on and he says “I do it for the people!”
Dude would be perfect off the bench. We need someone exactly like him. I wonder if we could sign-and-trade for him.. I want him back where he belongs man.
A symbiotic relationship, the circle of life... we give them overrated talent, they give us lotto picks.
A sign and trade is always a possibility and the one in control would be Barton and his management. If Barton truly wanted to come to Portland then I am sure Denver would be willing to negotiate rather than lose him for nothing. It would be the only way we could logically do it as that way it wouldn't add much if any to our salary.
Yeah, he seemed like a nice kid but he was a little strange. My great nephew went trick or treating in his neighborhood which was near where Barton lived. He went to one house and saw Barton peering around the curtains, unwilling to come to the door. My great nephew is an outstanding basketball player and a huge fan of the NBA so he knew who Barton was instantly.
Denver's FO might do it, which would make watching Nuggets fans cringe over another Denver/Portland trade all the sweeter.
