But before the Wizards' 93-90 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, Coach Eddie Jordan said he doesn't plan to make a decision on his final starter until just before the season opener on Nov. 1 against Cleveland.

"It's a close battle," Jordan said. "You put a gun to my head and say, 'Make a decision.' I'd say, 'It's a toss-up.' "</div>

I'd like to see Eddie Jordan start off the season with Etan as his starting center. He brings a lot more intensity and defensive plays than Brendan does and he has shown it so far in the preseason playing a lot better than he is. Also, it's not bad having a scoring frontcourt duo like Brendan Haywood and Darius Songaila coming off the bench, if the backcourt can't get anything going. It just shows to everybody how much talent the Wizards have on their bench.

I think whoever starts really doesn't matter as either way they'll both be sharing the minutes.

The best thing I've seen so far in the pre-season is that Jarvis Hayes has been hitting his shots, and doesn't look like he's missed as much time as he has. If he can stay healthy for us, he'll be HUGE for the bench along with Etan Thomas.
