That's funny. We had a Border Collie mix when we lived in Portland that used to play goalie like that with me, I might have a photo somewhere carrying a baby and playing like that with that dog. That dog was really crazy. I miss her.

You scared the crap out of me with that title. Images of HCP as a “training partner” for anyone’s daughter should only exist in his fervid fantasy life.

that's pretty cool. My son played on a club soccer team and one of his teammates owned a little Jack Russell terrier that would go out at halftime and put on a show dribbling the ball up and down the field.

Saw that! Very funny! Wonder how long he threw that ball around for the cat to start doing that.

Speaking of the daughter, there is a service now called HUDL. Allows HS players from all sports to upload their highlights and game footage so scouts can check them out. She is a freshman, so we are very early into this "recruiting" world.......that said she just set up her profile this past weekend. I am going to throw some of her highlights up there that I cut, but she already made some from this spring. She got her first "FOLLOWER". Head of recruiting for Gonzaga. So she was super excited when she noticed it yesterday.

    Nice!

Did you ever think about picking up some work doing similar videos for other kids who are looking to play at the collegiate level? I would think that there would be some parents willing to pay to have something like this done professionally.

I've had a few of my kids teammates parents ask, until recently, I'm usually too busy. Maybe I should start doing that.

Just turned 15..... she works SO hard. She's a lefty, always throws defenders off.

Just like baseball, lefty is a huge advantage in soccer.

Can she get on at U of P?
I use to date this lady at Tektronix who had a daughter, Tiffany Milbrett, that was a pretty decent soccer player and I'm pretty sure she went to U of P. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how great their women's soccer program is. They had a great coach by the name of Clive Charles.

Hmm? What advantage does a left handed thrower have over a righty? My grandson was backwards as he throws left but bats right. He only played till he was 12 so never worked with him on switch hitting.

As for soccer, my daughter would spend hours in the empty lot next door and worked on kicking the ball left footed and became very adept with both feet. She had a strong leg and her coach before she moved on to classic soccer her coach told her not to kick so hard as her teammates couldn't handle it. We moved on the next year, lol, along with 3 other girls from the team.

I suppose it depends on whether a LHed pitcher is throwing to a RHed or a LHed batter. So managers typically try to stack their line ups based on whether they are facing a RHed or LHed pitcher. (more righty batters when facing a lefty pitcher and vice versa)

On one hand a RHed batter typically sees the ball better coming out of a LHed pitcher's hand as opposed to a RHed pitcher.(and vice versa, and why switch hitters are so coveted)

On the other hand, LHed batters are at an advantage when they make contact because they are considerably closer to 1B than RHed batters.

Yeah, batting lefty can definitely be an advantage. I wish i had worked on left handed hitting at an early age as i experimented but didn't really hit lefty till i was out of college
