What do you take for a headache? Ibuprofen is about the only thing that works for me. If I wait too long before I take it I am screwed. My wife always takes tylenol My sons likes Aleve. I used to just take aspirin, but it doesn't really work for me anymore.
6x 200mg Ibuprofin (generic). I'm prone to migraines, and even if I've got one going, this dose kills it within 30 minutes. I have asked several doctors about this dose, and they have no issues with it. I could probably take less and it'd be effective, but the 6x dose does it for me every time. Nothing else works, except something like Demerol.
I ususally go for 4, but when I was in Mexico I bought a couple of big bottles of the 6 strength tabs.... so I've been taking those lately.
I think it was Carlton Williamson, former DB of the 49ers, who was told to take massive doses of ibuprofen for his assorted aches and pains from injuries. He ended up getting very sick from taking large doses multiple times a day. Not good for the kidneys and/or liver. I do not take 6x per day or even close to it. Maybe a couple times a month. If I otherwise have an ache or pain, I take the prescribed 2x.
My sophomore year of high school I got headaches. Twice a day... right before classes started and right after classes ended. It was always on the right side of my head, and going through football and basketball practices with a throbbing skull was terrible. I took lots of OTC meds and a friend's mom showed me some sort of holistic massage of my palm that was supposed to work. Eventually I went to the doctor. Got a CAT scan. Was categorized as an "atypical migraine" and given some medicine... which didn't help. After several more months, I stopped having headaches and, while I occasionally get headaches like anyone does, they are almost never on the right side of my head. It was like I had a lifetime of headaches on the right side of my head all jammed into a 10 month period. To answer the original question: I take a couple Advil and then tough it out after that if it doesn't go away. Ed O.
Drink water, go to sleep. Don't get headaches often, i think when i do, its either from red wine or too much caffiene
