Riots in Portland, Oregon. You made the Israeli news. Made me a bit worried but also proud. I trust you to keep him in check and hopefully he turns out to be a better president than expected. The biggest thing is the people, trust yourselves and trust each other, don't turn against one another that's the most important thing. Here in Israel we have a very problematic leader and have many issues, between the jews and the arabs and in the diversified jewish community. But i believe in the people and I don't just believe in you, I know you. You'll find a way to make it right
The people turning against each other is already happening, and it drives me crazy. The protests are protest for the sake of protest, with no clearly elucidated purpose aside from expressing anger and frustration. Some voters whose candidate didn't win are blaming, yelling at, and even attacking those whose did. Some voters whose candidate won feel emboldened to act out some of the hatred previously only hidden in their hearts and occasionally expressed in their (usually anonymous) words. I don't understand why people behave the way they do, but I'm hoping it's just temporary and things calm down before Thanksgiving.
Believe in who you are. I am very much against many of Trump's opinions and his behaviour. But I do agree with some of his opinions, maybe he could be someone that actually makes things better, at least in some ways. I was proud of the protests because it made me realize that the American people and way of life wouldn't let anyone, president or otherwise, stand above or against their values. If he does things right, support him, if he doesn't, America is stronger than any one man. I was a big fan of Obama and still am but even if he is an amazing personality, he too maybe made some mistakes and maybe did things wrong, everyone do. Trust yourselves, your values, your way of life and if you see a need for change, do. If there's a need to stand up to him and say "we are the people" do. Maybe this could be an opportunity for the people, the public, to find their way. Having maybe a less trustworthy president can in some ways be a blessing in disguise. And I believe he is not really a bad man and that he wants to do good and prove his doubters wrong. Anyway, I don't want you to turn against eachother or take things to extreme but I'm happy and proud to realise that whatever president is elected, the people, in Portland and elsewhere are the ones who really make their way and if he stirs the wheels in the wrong direction you'd keep him in check
I really wish the protesters could've waited til they had something to protest besides an election outcome. It's like the boy who cried wolf right now.
