Eddie Jones says the players go about their business, generally oblivious to outside opinions or the particulars of the Eastern Conference standings. But lately they show up for work and coach Pat Riley often is reminding them of what's happening in the rest of the East. On Monday it was a chalkboard sketch to show that while the Heat's six-game winning streak is good, the team still isn't making up much ground in the East. Message: So keep it up. "For us, as players, we are not sure what [other] teams are doing," Jones said. "I think he did that to let us be aware what is going on." Though the Heat has won six in a row, most of the other playoff contenders ahead of the Heat in the Eastern Conference are winning, too. Cleveland has won five in a row, Chicago five of six, and Detroit and Toronto two in a row each entering Monday. The Heat is hottest of all but is sixth in the East, just four victories ahead of eighth-place New York, after beating Washington 106-104 on Sunday. The Heat could vault to third if it overtakes the Wizards, who have a one-game lead in the Southeast Division. "If they keep winning and we keep winning, it doesn't make any difference," Riley said. "We must keep winning and hope that somewhere along the way that teams will back up on us with a few losses. "[The Heat players] were a little bit surprised by that. "We have been winning all these games but we are still in sixth place. "It's not good enough." The failure to make a major move in the standings might be why the Heat hasn't seemed to gain much national notice despite winning without Dwyane Wade (shoulder).</div> Source
