QUOTE

The Heat's training camp roster has reached the NBA limit of 20 players, but it might not be settled just yet.
With the start of training camp looming Tuesday, the Heat remains in talks with as many as three teams regarding possible trades. Among those potential partners are the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are looking to unload several contracts after trading Kevin Garnett to Boston in a five-for-one deal in July.
The Garnett trade left Minnesota with a surplus of shooting guards and small forwards -- two positions where the Heat has been looking to add depth throughout the offseason.

Source: Miami Herald

I know it's pretty easy to pick out Ricky's faults but teaming him in a backcourt with Wade is pretty crazy. Their size and athleticism would make them a real difficult combination to deal with. I know alot rests on Wade being 100% but if all it costs to get an all around guy like Ricky is Williams and Doleac ya gotta jump on that.

hypothetical trade scenario here:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trad...p;te=&cash=
Thoughts/opinions from Heat fans?
To Miami - Juwan Howard, Rafer Alston To Minnesota - Jason Williams, Michael Doleac, John Lucas III To Houston - Trenton Hassell
The trade would give Miami 2 players who are/were starter material and better depth. We all know Riley likes Juwan (well enough to have signed him to a huge offer sheet years ago), and Rafer played his best ball in Miami. The only problem is the amount of cash that will be tied up in these 2 players over the next few years. Alston is due $15 mill over the next 3, and Howard $15 mill over the next 2.
Minnesota will buy out Williams, perhaps Doleac too and will net a huge salary cap savings.
Trenton Hassell in Houston, well they just need to get rid of Rafer and balance the roster. He'd be a nice energy guy off the bench.

Trading $11 million worth of expiring contracts for overpaid Juwan Howard (2 years left) and turnover-prone Rafer Alston? They can put together a package using J-Will's expiring deal around the deadline and get much more in return than that. Even if they don't do that, they are better off letting those contract expire and try to hit a home run in the loaded 2008 free agent market.
I think Ricky would be great for Miami, though. He's one of the most lethal 1-on-1 scorers in the league, and while he may be one cocky SOB, he'd bring a ton of energy to Miami and give them arguably the best 3rd scoring option in the entire league.
