<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">So now, as a Heat fan, there's only one thing left to do ... other than everything you left undone while transfixed by the playoff run. Root for the San Antonio Spurs with all your remaining strength. You might have done that anyway, viscerally and reflexively, because the Pistons make your stomach turn like the rival Knicks once did. You might have done it because Bruce Bowen is a Spur, or Rasheed Wallace is a Piston, or because that's what Eva Longoria would want. Yet if you still need a push, hear this: "Sure," TNT analyst Steve Kerr said, when asked if Tim Duncan will be on par with Shaquille O'Neal if he wins his third title since 1999. "It's all measured by championships, and if it's 3-3, they're even. And if you want to do MVPs, it's 2 to 1 [Duncan]. So absolutely, if Duncan can do it, I think he will join Shaq as the two most dominant players After Jordan. "A.J., we call it." You know what you could also call that? Motivation. As if O'Neal needs any more for next season. Kerr was a Spur, and he won a title with Duncan in 2003. But it won't be the last you hear of this theory, if Duncan holds up the Larry O'Brien trophy again. Several former NBA players, with no direct ties to either superstar, said the same. Duncan has gained on O'Neal, is about to catch him and, considering the great state of San Antonio's salary cap, has a good shot to pass the older man. Duncan, 29, could win his third ring in his eighth season. O'Neal, 33, has won three in 12. Duncan has averaged 22.5 points and 12.2 rebounds, O'Neal 26.5 points and 12.0 rebounds. Duncan has made the All-Defensive first team in seven consecutive seasons. O'Neal has made second team twice. O'Neal's enormous charisma edge will make him the most remembered, most beloved player of the A.J. era. The most dominant? That will be up for debate.</div> Source
Heat Fans should root for Good Basketball. As for That Duncan/Shaq Comparison. I would rather have Shaq in his prime rather than Duncan in his prime. Right now I rather have Duncan. I really dont like the way they compare their dominance based on championships. Because 1 player cant get you a championship. There is a whole team involved. Unless Duncan and Shaq had identical teams you cant compare on how many championships they each have. And plus Ducan won his 1st title in a 50 game season. A lot of things can happen in 32 games. Things like trades, injuries and it can also change the playoffs seeds.
