<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SALT LAKE CITY ? From the not-so-shocking-development-department: San Diego State junior guard Brandon Heath is expected to test the NBA draft process by submitting his name for early entry with the opportunity to return for his senior season.

The Aztecs lost to Indiana 87-83 last night in a first-round NCAA Tournament game at the Huntsman Center.

Heath isn't the only Aztec who might test the process, although junior forward Marcus Slaughter will likely take more time to make a final decision. Slaughter submitted his name last year before returning to school, meaning his college eligibility will end should he choose to follow the same path.

Players are only allowed to submit their name for early entrance once in a career.

Heath is the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year who led the league in scoring at 18.5 and shot better than 40 percent on threes. Should he return and remain healthy next season, he is in line to pass Michael Cage as the school's all-time leading scorer.

SDSU (24-9) started no seniors last night.

Speaking earlier this week, Heath said: ?I think it's good to go out and test the waters and your skill level against other players, to see what your options are. I'll listen to my father, Coach (Steve) Fisher and (close friend and NBA player) Baron Davis for advice. Those three. They're going to look out for my best interests.

?There are a lot of reasons to return to school. First of all, to help take this team even farther than this season, to be with Coach Fisher and the guys another year. I love college. I love being here, my situation, San Diego. I've always been a patient person. The NBA isn't going anywhere.

?It's exciting to think about how good we could be next year if we all come back. But while Marcus is my guy and I love him, I have to do what is best for me and he has to do what is best for him. We'll make our own decisions.? </div>
