<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">FORT MILL - Seven television cameras lined the edge of the Charlotte Bobcats' practice court Thursday for an offseason practice.

That was seven more TV cameras than typically showed up for in-season practice.

Gee, you think Raymond Felton and Sean May created a buzz?

I liked it last season when I had the Bobcats' press room to myself. The team could have posted a sign: "Express player interviews! No waiting!" and not drawn a sniff.

Then Thursday became Super Bowl media day: Microphones and lenses everywhere, reporters standing shoulder-to-shoulder to chronicle what a couple of rookies thought about breaking their first sweat as professionals.

Sheesh, you'd think they'd won a national championship or something.

One of the camera heads asked Felton how he'd handle the pressure and attention attached to his new profession. Felton looked a bit puzzled for a moment, then he reminded the questioner that pressure and attention also accompanied his former job description -- North Carolina point guard.

This kid is cocky. Not necessarily bad-cocky, but there's an edge there. You need an edge when you're 6-foot and embarking on a career as a starting NBA point guard.

Felton will be the starter. I don't know exactly when, but coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff has dropped too many hints that Brevin Knight would be a "mentor" if he returns, not to know the decision is a foregone conclusion.

Ask Felton about the NBA game, and he looks like the world is one big candy shop. It's fast, he said Thursday, and that's how he likes it.

Bickerstaff has told him to exploit every opportunity to push the ball, because his speed is what makes him special.

"He has to always make the defense feel that he's a threat to go" to the rim, Bickerstaff said. "That's the kind of pressure we want him to put on."</div>
