I'm new here, and I comb the internet to get the forum for rockets' fan. As the first thread I ever post here, I would like to talk about how far can rockets move ahead, presuming it will be qualified in offseason. Since recently the Rockets has been doing a good job in their 3/4-victory-trip, it ranks on the 5th place both on power rankings and the west. Now 10 games left including 6 trips, if rockets could maintain the momentum, it will meet Dallas Mav in the first round, which would be very tough and hard to predict, but chances are very dim. Certainly Mav would climb up to 3rd place as there's only one win margin with Supersonic. And Rockets is more confident to beat Sonic. However, without fortune, the rockets fall to the bottom of the eight teams line, then it will have to deal with spurs or visit phoenix. Without TD or with Shawn Marion, rockets won't struggle too much to be eliminated. What will Jeff choose do to move one more step than the last season, at least second round?
I don't think we should concern ourselves with what seed we get. Our best chance in the playoffs will come if we're playing at a very high level, and the only way to do that is to play hard every night and try to win every game.
and just to correct one thing, mavs will never climb up to 3rd place. 1st - 3rd place in each conference is reserved for the leader of each division. Sonics is the leader of northwest division and mavericks is in the same division with san antonio, so in order for mavs to be in top three, they have to surpass san antonio
Welcome to the Rockets forum, back-on-track! Hope you will enjoy posting here. Our Rockets forum is getting more active by the day and we're already one of the top five on JBB. There's a good chance Houston surpasses Dallas, and I hope that we do. The way we've been just rolling over teams in a tough schedule from March, there's a good chance we can go 9-1 in those last ten games. If we get home court advantage against a team like Dallas, it would greatly boost our chances of winning the series.
Dallas have stepped up their defense with the little general (Avery) taking coaching responsibilities. This is a new Mavs that now has a good playing style for the playoffs and can go far. Houston also have a good palying style, and like most 4-5 seeded matchups this should be a real slobber knocker!!!
It's farfetched to say that Jeff lost the game by intention. Afterall a lost home is far from glory, but verging on shame. 7 successive winnings end up on a home court without YAO. What the hell is JVG's trick? The prospect of Houston is still hard to tell.
And as Trip has already mentioned, as the regular season ends, you must be in peak performance for the playoffs. How can you be ready for the playoffs if you're throwing away games? Strategically it may work to get the better matchup, but in reality you are limiting your players because it messes up team chemistry. BTW: Back-on-track, sorry for being so rude. I forgot to welcome you to the forums. You should get alot out of posting in the Rockets forum. Its one of the most active in JBB.

As a matter of fact, however, do you really take it realistic that we can surpass the Mavs and obtain the home advantage? All we'll get if we're trying to win everygame is a good ranking in division. But if we do some little tricks, we may go further in playoffs. Rockets isn't a solid, steady team. It's very flexible and fluctuating. I mean it can successively beat the best teams in the association on trip while tend to be wrapped up by the weakest. Thanks to your greeting dakeem, and I'm grateful to have TRIP's too. I'll be here, coz I love Rockets, thou I drive Honda
One thing about the Rockets is that they are probably one of the streakiest teams in the NBA right now. They win a lot, then lose a lot. I think its healthy for the Rockets to get into their rythm because of the fact that they seem to go on streaks. If they don't work thir @$$es of at the end of the season, their laziness could carry on into the playoffs. While we may have a better chance to beat the Sonics, I'm still confident that we have a chance against the Mavs. It will be a close contest because both team are suited to the playoffs, but its very gettable.
