Bryzgalov has signed with Oilers. They also traded Smid to the flames for some prospects.

Simmonds is MUCH better than Hemsky. I hope Philly makes that deal. I think it would be very stupid of them to deal Simmonds for Hemsky.

The Oliers are ready to make moves. They need to start winning or they will all be fired. I am telling you, they are fearing for their jobs in Edmonton. They will make moves soon.

Right. Either we get him OR Philly makes a bad deal. I am a big Simmonds fan. I like how he plays. We have a match with the Oilers, let's see if anything happens.

If so the Flyers got alot easier to play against. They aren't going anywhere with that D so this makes little sense for them.

If they could get Hemsky and a d-prospect like Musil for DZ and a 3rd that might work.

I have to be honest, I think we can do better than Hemsky for MDZ. Hemsky hasn't scored more than 14 goals, or had more than 42 points in 5 years. He is always missing games. And for the most part is around 10 goals and maybe 30 or so points.

I don't see him as much more than a 3rd line winger. Maybe you can make the case that a fresh start would serve him well, and he is a righty, which helps, but I don't love Hemsky.

Maybe they wait until after New Years and see if his game picks up and where Nash is also. I wouldn't mind seeing Hrivik in the meantime in Pyatts absence.

A few sites saying that Philly is/was close to landing Eberle, not Hemsky...

Simmonds, Courturier and Schenn are the kinds of forwards Edmonton lack. I know Sather has always wanted Simmonds. I could see Edmonton trading Eberle for Simmonds and Courturier or Simmonds and Brayden Schenn, then trading Simmonds to NY for MDZ.

Rumors are Luke Schenn and Simmonds for Hemsky and Eberle. I wonder if they would then do Simmonds for MDZ.

So basically the Oilers trade Hemsky who isn't any good at this point and Eberle for Luke Schenn and MDZ. That would be a pretty good deal for them. They could then use their next number top 5 pick on a forward. :)

I am a huge Simmonds fan and always have been. I would love him here, and it isn't crazy, but if the Oilers trade for him I am sure they will keep him.

It would be frustrating to see the Flyers make a deal with the Oliers, and we just sit and watch again.

And I agree on Hemsky. Not a big fan at all, especially not for MDZ.

Funny part, Edmonton is in Philly today. Easy to make trades and simply walk across to the new dressing room...LOL.

I definitely could see Edmonton wanting to keep Simmonds. However, I think in the long run they would be better off with Schenn and MDZ on their defense. They have some real tough forward prospects in the minors. Maybe they feel one or two of them are ready to make the club.
