Dolphins opened training camp this morning with one player missing, as second-round quarterback Chad Henne hadn?€™t yet signed. But Henne?€™s holdout didn?€™t last long. Henne has signed a four-year, $3.5 million contract with $1.5 million guaranteed today, Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting. At Michigan, Henne started 47 games and finished as the Wolverines?€™ career leader, with 828 completions, 1,387 attempts, 9,715 yards, 87 touchdowns and 37 interceptions. Henne will get a shot to start as a rookie, although he?€™ll enter training camp behind veterans Josh McCown and John Beck on the quarterback depth chart. McCown and Beck split reps with the first team at this morning?€™s practice, and McCown showed no ill effects of the recent injury to his throwing hand suffered in a chain saw accident.
Henne will be active in TC but don't think he'll see the field when the RS starts. I recently read that Parcells believes rookie QB's should ride the pine. Beck would have but last year was a disaster. Even then, as memory serves, Cameron was hesitant to put JB in. McCown IMO will not be in A & O next year. Beck should hopefully win the job. With the improved OL & kick ass RB duo, JB should be improved & have a decent season. Even more importantly that Henne signing is Merling inking a deal. He and Langford (the other DL drafted) should hold down the DE spots for years to come.
