    Henry: Arsenal Will Win Something

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Arsenal legend Thierry Henry - who admits he’ll always be a Gooner in his heart - expects his former club to lift silverware this season.

Barcelona striker Thierry Henry has told The Sun that The Gunners can end their three-year quest for trophies and prove the doubters wrong.

Arsenal last won silverware in 2005 when they lifted the FA Cup, albeit without the injured Henry. But the Frenchman tasted plenty of glory during his eight years in North London, including two Premier League titles. However, Arsenal finished 4th, 4th and 3rd in the last three seasons, after eight successive campaigns in which they were never out of the top two. That, and the departure of a steady stream of top players, has prompted critics to dismiss Arsene Wenger’s side as a spent force.

Henry’s own departure for Barcelona a year ago was widely predicted to hasten Arsenal’s fall from grace, but in fact Wenger inspired his young squad to mount a sustained title bid. They led the Premier League table from September until late March and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but ultimately finished empty-handed.

Nor has the close season brought much joy to date, with Jens Lehmann, Mathieu Flamini, Alexander Hleb and Gilberto Silva all having left for pastures new, the futures of Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin van Persie remaining uncertain, Tomas Rosicky still out injured, and key defender Kolo Toure being struck down with malaria.

On the other hand, Wenger has brought in Samir Nasri, Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin.

Nevertheless, the club’s all-time record scorer Henry has every faith in his compatriot and former manager’s ability to get the best out of the resources available to him - and to do so in style.

“Last year I said Arsenal would win something,” Henry told The Sun. “People laughed at me.

“They laughed even more when they finished the season with nothing but how many people fell in love with their football?

“At the start of the season everyone wrote them off. A couple of months in and everyone was saying, ‘Wow, Arsenal play some great football’.

“They were the team everyone loved to watch and rightly so because they played great stuff.

“I don’t know what it is about the club but they always seem to produce something special. They always seem to be able to inspire players. I still think they can win something.”

One of Arsenal’s high-profile departures this summer, Hleb, has linked up again with his former captain at Camp Nou - something Henry is delighted about.

“Alex is a great player and I’m glad he’s signed for us,” Henry added. “He can play on the left, on the right or up front on his own.

“He has a great left foot, a great right foot and his vision is great. I’m going to stop talking now because I’m starting to make him sound like Pele!

“I think he’ll be great for us because he’s an exciting player. He’ll fit in at the Nou Camp and I think the fans will appreciate what he brings to the team.”</div>

    With Nasri anything is possible.

Henry should have stayed at Arsenal to finish his career there. I know he regrets it now that Barca has sold Dinho, Deco, Dos Santos, etc.

    +1.

I can't wait to see him play. Especially along side Fabregas and Rosicky. Also I'm intreagued to know who else he will sign. He said he will sign another player. Hopefully some one to replace Flamini. Maybe a good strong Defencive Midfielder. Veloso possibly. Imagine that Midfield

Man_U_Barmy_army i think if we show some endurance we could win the title. Look at us last season. We were Dominating. You Must admit that. But when Eduardo got injured the season turned for us. I'm not saying that his Injury was the total reason. It played a factor though. If he had stayed fit as well as Rosicky we could of kept the lead. But around that time Arsenal began to get tired and we had a bad run of results. But with some hard(er) work and a little bit of luck i think we could get the title

I'm thinking it will be Yaya Toure or Frings, Max.

I think we need a good goalkeeper, Almunia is garbage for a club like ours, I hope that's our next signing, we can still probably go on with diaby or denilson at the DM position.

I know the main reason for arsenals faulter was the mental effect that that injury had on the entire team. They need someone who can step up to the plate to get them and the whole team past incidents like this. To be perfectly honest it is very hard for any team to get the same good start they did as they did last year. Plus the defensive midfielder would show some solidarity in the squad which arsenal need when defending, but not so much when attacking.

That's why Frings would be the perfect choice. He has bags of experience under his belt, he can pretty much lead the whole squad (even Germany), and totally bends the game to his demand. I just hope he can perform in the UK.

On the goalkeeper, I don't really have any that pop-out. Perhaps we could snap up Kasper Schmeical - I can't remember if he's on loan. Other than that, I'm shooting blanks.
