Herd Drops Second Showcase Cup Game

    The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost their second game of the Showcase Cup 155-103 to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. 53 points is the biggest loss margin of the season for the Wisconsin Herd. Ten of the Herd's last 13 games have been within eight points. Rayjon Tucker, Wenyen Gabriel, Tremont Waters and Jemerrio Jones did not play for the Wisconsin Herd.

    The two teams were tied 19-19 in the first quarter, but the Fort Wayne Mad Ants took the lead and stayed in lead for the rest of the game. Wisconsin shot 45.8% in field goals, 30.3% in three-pointers and 61.1% in free throws. The Mad Ants outscored the Herd in points in the paint (68-38) and bench points (63-19).

    The Wisconsin Herd was led by Jalen Lecque with 26 points while Lindell Wigginton added 22 points. Javin DeLaurier posted a career-high 13 rebounds. Trevor John played in his first game for the Herd with three points and one rebound. Devonte Patterson also played in his first game for the Herd with six points and one rebound.

    The Fort Wayne Mad Ants were led by Gabe York with 36 points and Keifer Sykes added 22 points.

    The two teams traded baskets to start the first quarter until the Fort Wayne Mad Ants took the lead 8-6 with 8:24 left in the first quarter. Jalen Lecque had a running dunk to tie the game 19-19 with 4:49 left in the quarter. The Fort Wayne Mad Ants answered with a three to take the lead back 22-19. The Mad Ants stayed ahead to lead at the end of the first quarter 31-23.

    The Fort Wayne Mad Ants came out on a strong going 8-0 in the first two minutes of the second quarter. The Fort Wayne Mad Ants held the largest lead of the half by 29 points in the second quarter. The Mad Ants led at half 78-49.

    Jalen Lecque led the Herd at the half with 15 points while Terry Larrier added 12 points. The Fort Wayne Mad Ants were led by Gabe York with 24 points. The Herd had 11 turnovers leading to 17 points for the Mad Ants in the first half. The Wisconsin Herd went 0-for-15 from the three-point line in the first half.

    Sam Cunliffe hit the first three-pointer of the game for the herd in the first possession of the third quarter. The Herd went on to hit their next four three-pointers. The Mad Ants finished the quarter with a 4-0 to bring the score to 119-77.

    The Mad Ants continued to keep the Herd scoreless going on a 10-0 run. Jalen Lecque ended the scoreless run with a dunk to bring the score to 131-79. The Herd lost 155-103.

    The Wisconsin Herd will kick off the regular season at home on Monday, December 27th when they take on the Long Island Nets with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
