    ICE AGENTS ARREST MORE THAN 100 EMPLOYEES AT AN OHIO LANDSCAPING COMPANY

    Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested 114 employees of a gardening and landscaping company in Ohio on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

    The employer, Corso's Flower & Garden Center, has been under investigation since October of 2017, after a woman who was arrested for providing stolen identification documents to job applicants told ICE officials to monitor the landscaping company.

    Tuesday's raid was the largest single-day sting since April, when ICE agents arrested 97 employees at a Tennessee meatpacking plant. No charges have been filed against Corso's (or the Tennessee plant, for that matter), but ICE reportedly plans to file charges of identity theft and tax evasion against the landscaping employees.

    I have no problem arresting illegals but we are not prosecuting the people who hire them. That is bullshit. That would be like if DEA arrested the drug users but left the dealers.

    Owners (Republicans) will always hire the cheapest, poorest workers (Democrats) they can find, so illegal immigration will always be. Until owners (Republicans) are prosecuted.

    I'd prefer we seize any money gained from this company hiring illegals. Every cent. You can arrest them if you want but just taking their ill gotten gains would be enough for me.

    For illegally hiring 95% illegal aliens. Who speak only Spanish, and make no secret of it. Ever worked at such a factory? I have. (Don't want to type the story for about a fifth time in 10 years...not without coffee.)

    As winter approaches and the days get shorter, Florida is preparing for an influx of snowbirds, the nickname given to people who’d rather winter in the Sunshine State instead of, well, anywhere the temperature isn’t 83 degrees on Thanksgiving Day.

    And with the tourists comes a temporary boost for the industries that serve them.

    Those winter employment opportunities are typically menial and by definition temporary jobs that can be hard to fill. So Florida employers turn to immigrant labor by the thousands — people who are granted a temporary visa and spend a few months working in Florida. Demand meets supply, and beefed-up businesses hum along without much controversy.

    Unless, of course, those businesses happen to be owned by the president of the United States — particularly one who has blasted companies for hiring immigrants over American workers.

    President Trump recently won permission from the Labor Department to hire 70 cooks, maids and servers to work at his ritzy Mar-a-Lago Club for the tourist season, according to the Palm Beach Post. That’s six more than Trump hired last tourist season. He’s contributing to an influx of 2,159 immigrant workers snapping up the temporary jobs in Palm Beach County.

    The reason why they don't prosecute the employers...

    IS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE EMPLOYERS!!

    Even Mitt Romney hired them.

    Employers have to have an I-9 on file "Employment Eligibility Verification."

    Penalty for not doing so is as listed as follows (punishment is vague):

    Providing the information collected by this form is voluntary. However an employer should not continue to employ an individual without a completed form. Failure of the employer to prepare and/or ensure proper completion of this form for each employee hired in the United States after....may subject the employer to civil and/or criminal penalties. In addition, employing individuals knowing that they are unauthorized to work in the United States may subject the employer to civil and/or criminal penalties.

    The I9 form also protects the employee form discrimination. If they can provide the requested documents then the employer cannot discriminate and not hire based on the documents. It's very vague how much responsibility it is on HR to know whether a document is genuine or not. They can definitely ask for further documents if they think a document is fake.
