He makes so many boneheaded plays. I just think his stats are way out of whack with what my eyes see. He has very little offensive talent but thinks he can do anything. On D, aside from rebounding which he is great at, he can't do anything else.

I'm making this a thread because I was in the keep Hickson camp for a while, but the more I watch him the more he frustrates me. We need much more out of the center spot than JJ can give. Hope he gets a small contract with us, or a large contract elsewhere.

realistically he is a good #6 or 7 player off the bench, unfortunately with too few qualty FA's this summer and a shitload of teams with capspace he will probably get overpaid

Lets just not be the ones to overpay him.

We probably won't. We will probably be the ones to overpay someone like Carl Landry instead. Not that I dislike Landry but he is the same problem if you overpay for him.

I think he's fine. Realistically, he's what we can expect from an undersized guy playing center.

Yep. You play him at PF and a lot of these issues are lessened (they don't go away completely).

He's really no worse than guys like Boozer and Stoudemire. And those guys are being paid 13+M per year.

I don't think he has any value because of his contract status. I wouldn't pay more than 8-9 million. If someone offers more I'd just let him go.

I wouldn't go over what his cap hit is this summer which is 7.6 MIL, so if we can get him for 7.6 MIL on average for 3 years then I think he is worth that even coming off the bench and being a super-sub. If he costs more then that then let him go.

Starting to agree with this viewpoint. I think we should throw money at Pekovic instead. The T-Wolves have about 49 million locked up in 9 players, and they'd need money to sign their lotto pick this year. They'd probably match, but we could make it painful like they did for Batum. Perfect chance to return the favor.

I would be happy if Hickson signed a 4.60, 5.25 and 6.15 million sort of thing just keeping it under 16 million. :D
That way people can get his jersey. A lot of people have been asking for his jersey but then they find out it can only be made screen printed.

MLE money to back up LaMarcus would be fine. Starting center or PF at the salary numbers being tossed around, not so much. I don't even think he's worth his cap hold, that plus we need a quality lottery pick, and I'm for trading him at the deadline and playing Freeland/Leonard/Babbitt.

If he was out pf it wouldn't be problem. But he's our center and undersized. If he was a 7 footer; I'd be more adapt in paying him.

After all these years, it sure is nice to have one effort guy who is always up for the game.

He gets too much praise on this board. You guys need to stop raving about him.

And have helped their teams win nothing. Both are also constantly brought up in trade talks

I think he has been a huge reason for our wins this year. I would like to keep him. With that said I won't pay him too much.

I still think (as much as everyone cringes at the fact) that there is an argument to be made to move Hickson to PF and to get a close to All-Star Center and 6th man of the year candidate-type off the bench from a trade of LMA. Or a starting SG as well and move Wes to 6th man off the bench.

I not actively looking to move LMA at all. However if an offer came through I think it could help us round out this team easier then moving Hickson (who won't garner much with his contract situation upcoming) then I would listen intently. Plus Hickson would thrive at his natural position.
