My 20 year is coming up. Did you go to any of yours, is it worth it? I'm undecided on going since I have to fly and get a hotel and all that shit. Would rather spend the money on something like a new phone or Macbook or something.
I went to my 10 year one. I missed the 20 because I was traveling over seas. My 10 year was pretty cool. It wasn't some lifetime experience or anything, but it was really cool seeing people I totally forgot about
It would be fun to get completely shitfaced and fuck shit up though (our reunion is happening at Kells or something I think)
My 20 is coming up also and ill probably skip it. I went to my 10 and was disappointed. None of the people I wanted to see showed up and the rest was all just a life progress competition. Plus Im not single anymore so no shot at hooking up with the old flames or ugle ducklings. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
I stupidly got sucked into chairing my 10 year reunion and it was a cluster fuck. Everybody was still posturing and jockeying for position in life. The 20 year was better, but not by much. I missed my 30th because of a family wedding but heard it was an improvement. The 40th was the best yet because everyone was pretty much done competing and had adjusted to where we are in life. The days of "can you top this" were almost completely behind us. My advice is to skip the 20th (unless you're single) and to wait a decade or two. You (and everyone else) will be in a better position to relax and enjoy them.
Yeah, they started posting yearbook photos on the facebook page and I was like ugggh. I'm single, I was thinking of getting a hotel right by the venue haha
by the way, what the fuck is up with Portland hotel prices. shit has like doubled or tripled in the past few years.
I went to my 20. It kinda sucked. Only 50 people showed up, and only 3 people remembered who I was. To be fair I only recognized 6 people total, so I guess that's fair.
My 10 year is a couple of years away, but I keep up with the people I want to already, so what's the point?
Had my ten year last summer. Didn't go. Allmy best friends are From high school so I see like 6 of my high school buddies all the time. Sounded like a giant dick comparing contest, and I'm married now, so no chance on a hookup
I noticed at my 20th it was full of mostly people married with kids. Some on their 2nd or 3rd marriages. It wasn't anything neat. I only went because I worked with (at the time) someone I went to HS with and she was part of the group that put it together.
I think my 20th is this summer. Would be kind of pointless going though. The guys I hung out with in high school are all presumed dead, in jail or have done so too much acid they spend their time talking to God on a one way radio.
I remember a joke about reunions once. I think it was that a guy was looking forward to going to his 20th, so he could finally get up the nerve to tell the girl he liked back then, that he had liked her. And the punchline was "weren't you home schooled?"
Never even thought about it until I got a Facebook invite to my 40th a couple years back. At a winery on an August evening. Went, had a good time, learned some good kids had died since I'd last seen them in the '70s, traded stories, ate and drank and watched the sunset. It was startling, yet clearly Karmic how some people's lives and fortunes had reversed in adulthood. At both ends of the success spectrum, many seemed kinder and humbler than I remember them from school. Everyone who commented about previous ones they had attended said they weren't as fun, still a bit cliquey in their youth.
From what you guys are saying don't bother to go to the 10 and maybe 20 year reunions but after that people aren't as big of assholes. The 20 might have some divorced milfs though...
