They're both just slightly above average pitchers. The idea that Lilly is somehow an upgrade to Contreras is kinda laughable to me. Yeah, Lilly has better numbers so far this year, but if you've been paying attention Lilly is quickly coming back to his mediocre nature (ERA of Over 5 in June), and has had the benefit of padding his numbers against the National League Central (Easily the Weakest Division in Baseball) that Contreras doesn't. Lilly on the White Sox would be just more of the same mediocrity they were already getting.
