The Nets announced their 2007-08 coaching staff on Thursday, and former assistant Brian Hill is on the list, along with Bill Cartwright, Tom Barrise and Pat Sullivan. Hill was an assistant under Lawrence Frank before leaving to take the head coaching job in Orlando before the 2005-06 season.

It is certainly an important move for the Nets as he is somebody that Frank will listen to. However, he looked pretty bad running games on his own in Orlando.

In a similar manner to how mediocre movie stars tend to make very good tv stars (Jeremy Piven and Rob Lowe, for example), mediocre head coaches tend to make great assistant coaches. Call it the "Norv Turner Effect".

I group him with PJ Calisemo and Del Harris. Terrible head coaches but real nice assistants. I mean how didn't Hill beat the crap out of Nelson and Arroyo and Dooling for not getting Dwight the ball every damn time?

The only potentially bad thing about this move is if he and Frank but-heads over coaching philosophies, stemming from Hill being used to calling the shots last year. Thats really it; I think its a solid move.
