Dolphins Sign DB Hill... Posted on: 2006-03-16[ESPN] The Dolphins beat out the Browns, the Raiders and the Jets to get the services of versatile defensive back Renaldo Hill. Hill agreed to a three-year, $6 million contract with the Dolphins that included a $2 million signing bonus. For Hill, the Dolphins signing allows him to be reunited with Nick Saban, who recruited him out of high school to go Michigan State. He started for three years for Saban at Michigan State. Hill plays cornerback and safety, and he is probably going to help the Dolphins at the safety position. The Raiders used him as a cornerback-safety last year and at time, they used him as a linebacker in a 'Big Nickel' defense. He ended up with 89 tackles. WR Campbell To Sign With Dolphins... Posted on: 2006-03-16[Palm Beach Post] Former San Francisco 49ers defensive end/linebacker Julian Peterson will visit the Dolphins on Monday, according to his agent, Kevin Poston."He played for Saban at Michigan State. He's been to the Pro Bowl twice. ... He's 27," Poston said Thursday. "They're very interested."Whether the Dolphins can pay Peterson the large contract he is seeking isn't known. He also has visited the Seattle Seahawks and might return to the 49ers, Poston said.Peterson was the 16th overall pick in the 2000 draft and had 394 tackles and 21.5 sacks in six seasons with the 49ers. He became a free agent when the 49ers opted not to use the franchise tag on him; he was the club's franchise player the previous Cambell could be agood 3rd WR, Hill will probably be a Safty as the article says, but he wouldn't be a bad Dime Back either IMO.
The Jets didnt even offer hill a contract...dont know where they got how we were beat by the Dolphins for someone we really didnt want. A couple decent depth signings though.
