Hoeneß Desperate For Champions League Success
Bayern Munich manager Uli Hoeneß has revelead his determination to win the Champions League again before his tenure at the club come to an end.
Hoeneß has occupied his present position as general manager for 28 and is being earmarked to replace Franz Beckenbauer as club President when the Kaiser eventually stands down which is expected to be in two years time.
Hoeneß wants to see his beloved Bayern triumph in the Champions League again before that happens. The Bavarians last won the cup in 2001.
“It would be particularly beautiful if we could win the Champions League again in the next two or three years because we would have done it by our own merit” he told Bundesliga Magazin.
The ‘own merit’ tag is clearly a sideways swipe at Chelsea, who have Roman Abramovich to bankroll their attempts to win the cup.
“With Mr Abramovich at the helm, it is no achievement winning the Champions League” he added.
“If money is not a problem, then it is not all that difficult.”
However, with the German giants only in the UEFA Cup this season, they will have to wait until next season at the earliest to achieve Hoeneß’ dream.
