Hoiberg probably could have signed with several other teams for more money but wanted to remain in Minnesota, and the Wolves wanted him back.</div>

Now we can focus entirely on Hassell. Good. This will help us a lot too.

Nice. The one thing I like about Fred is that he seem to be ready everytime the Wolves called on him this year. His mintues were very up & down depending on the avaiblity of Wally S. last year. But he always step up when called on. In the 2nd half of the season when Wally came back Freddy H. role on the team became limited. But soon as Wally S went down vs Denver in the playoffs and he was called on to play big minutes again he stepped up especially early in the Sacro series. And then when Wally came back at the end of the kings series it seem that Fred role got small again but when Sam wasnt able to go vs the Lakers Hoiberg step right back in, so this is a great move to keep a guy who excepts his role and is willing to step up & play big minutes when called on even if it wont be on a night to night basis because Wally & Troy will be their taking alot of the back up perimeter minutes.

Thats good news because now once we match hassels offer from portland we will have kept the entire team from last years playoff ruhn very much in tact. I think that team personally would have gone to the finals if not for cassels back spasms.

Anyway now that we signed hoiberg for only 1.7 million for 2 years. That leaves us much more money to match hassels 16 million 4 year offer sheet from portland. Anyone know if he has signed that offer sheet yet?

If not it would save us alot of time if we just offered him the exact sae thing instead of waiting for him to sign with portland then matching it. It makes it seem like we were more intent on signing him. As far as hoiberg's signing goes he will be a good player to play at the swing man or point for us if one person there should get injured or in hassels case leave. He will be a good mentor for ebi as well in how to play the NBA game.

I'm very happy about the signing of Hoiberg. Hoiberg did some great things for us. One of our best role players. When he was called upon to give us good quality minutes out there, he did just that. The man is a great 3 point shooter for our team and the little things he did helped out. It's also good to get him back, because at time we might be putting him at PG because he will be the bigger defender against PG's and that really helps. I know we did it against Bibby in the playoffs last season in a game or 2.

So now, we focus on Hassell. Do we match the offer? I say yes, without a doubt. We need him back.

Great resigning... I love his flexiability on position and minutes... extremely valuable role player who can play heavy minutes effectivley when someone goes down.

    Hoiberg happy to rejoin Wolves

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Fred Hoiberg said he considered offers from a half-dozen NBA teams before deciding he and his family didn't have to leave the Midwest to find happiness. So on Friday, the veteran free-agent guard signed a $3.3 million, two-year contract to rejoin the Timberwolves.

"I wrote down the pros and cons of each situation," Hoiberg said. "This one made the most sense for our family. We felt most comfortable being here."

It didn't come quite as easy as his decision to sign with the Wolves a year ago, though he will make $1.6 million this season and $1.7 million in 2005-06.

"The last two nights have been pretty stressful," said Hoiberg, who narrowed his options to three teams before selecting the Wolves. "The other offers were financially better. If I had left, that would've been the reason."</div>

The contract is now 3.3 million, 2-year contract, and not 1.7 million.
