Hanukkah has started, Christmas is in 3 weeks...surely you all are doing some various interesting things to celebrate the season. What are you planning? What have you already done? Got any good pics to share? Any suggestions/recommendations for others?
For me, my church choir is doing their Christmas Cantata this coming Sunday (both my daughter and I have solos), so that certainly gets us into the spirit. Then on the 14th our family's heading down to SoCal for a week to experience Christmas in Disneyland.
Going to SF later this month to soak in that holiday vibe. There's a Charles Dickens fair i'm gonna peep. Wanted that bigger city feel, with decorations, colder weather, etc. I figure it'll be pretty nice out there. Vegas this weekend so I'll prob check out the Bellagio Christmas exhibit. When I'm in Portland the weekend before Christmas, probably hit up the Festival of Lights at the Grotto.
Staying around Portland. I'll bring the boy to the mall to see Santa. Always gobto Zoolights. Probably go to the grotto, maybe PIR. Peacock lane for sure.
Solos? My solo voice breaks mirrors. It would literally send people running for the exits. No, I'm a much better listener than a singer.
The Grotto is wonderful. We used to go there weekly and light a candle for deceased my mother-in-law.
Listeners are always welcome. Service starts at 9:30am this coming Sunday if you wanna come out. And our church is very elder friendly!
We get out of our service at 9 am. Don't know if we could get there in time. Our church is near downtown Lake Oswego.
Choir doesn't come on until after 10, and we're just a little ways up I-205. Just sayin', if you've got nothing better to do on a late Sunday morning...
My granddaughter performed at the Grotto last night with her school choir. She also had a solo which she definitely didn't get from her grandpa.
Are you saying I don't have important things to do? Why, I've gotta recline on the couch and watch reruns of Gilligan's Island. I've got old shows of Gunsmoke to see. Then there's the old shows of The Lawrence Welk show to watch. Next, comes my nap. Don't tell me I'm not busy with important stuff. So, where's your church?
The Grotto is an amazing place to sing a solo. The acoustics in there are phenomenal. I bet that was awesome to be able to hear.
No, no, I'm sure you've got many important plans--I was just saying "if"... My church is on SE 148th Ave between Division and Powell. Living Hope Baptist. All are welcome.
It's now in my waze list of favorites on my smart phone. I'll be the guy in the pin striped suit with the Asian wife (walking three paces behind me, j/k she's actually my boss).
My wife and I and our 6 kids, and 10 soon to be 11 grandkids are taking the Christmas Express train at Oaks this week-end.
