I’m starting this thread to find out what you guys think about the lack of home court advantage when the season resumes. A team like Philly was elite at home but god awful on the road. As is such, does seeding even matter? Utah and OKC were battling for HCA in first round when the season was suspended. Now, it doesn’t matter. The biggest problem, though, lies in the playoffs. A 7 game series all played in one building will be very strange. There’s no momentum shift from Game 2 to Game 3, etc. We are really used to that shift and I think without that shift, the series will feel longer and less dramatic. What are your thoughts?
I don't think series will go as long. It will be about the best team/players and that's it. More like Summer League.
Most, if not all, of the emotion that the crowd brings won't be around. Watching the KBO(Korean Baseball) on ESPN, the games are very subdued. I really see a practice like atmosphere happening. Vegas Summer League games have crowds for the most part. It adds to the excitement. Orlando Summer League has been played without fans. It's OK. But lacks a lot of energy. I've really noticed that the two summer leagues come off as being very different. Orlando always seems like a second fiddle kind of training league IMO. Bland to watch. For me, i will only be all in as long as the Blazers are in it.
As far as Homecourt goes, there will be none IMO, unless the officials get involved. I hope that won't happen. INTEGRITY PLEASE.
I think the Korean baseball and German soccer are doing this. Rather have it be quiet than fake fans cheering.
The idea is to make it look like there are fans in the arena or stadium for the broadcast, and all the major networks that carry sports are considering it, reports Andrew Marchand at the New York Post.
It will give an even playing field. I think it will be more important/impactful if they call the games fairly.
There are so many other important things they need to be worrying about than making it look and sound like fans are there. Who cares.
Why can’t they “worry” about everything? It’s entertainment and it’s important to make sure people watch.
