I tend to be very reserved and conservative when I discuss what could happen during a season or even a game. I don't consider myself arrogant and don't trash talk, even in victory. I find it to be in poor taste. However, I can remember 3 times when I got "happy feet" and went outside of myself and started talking as though I knew what was going to happen. 1st was during the playoffs in 2003 when the Panthers were plain smacking the Rams around. I called a friend to started trash talking the Rams. Not 10 minutes later, the comeback was on. I desperately tried to call them again to take back what I said and to appease the football gods, but they wouldn't answer the phone. I just knew the Rams were going to make me eat my words. By the time they answered, the game was starting the 2nd overtime. The instant I took back what I said, Smith ran 69 yards for the TD that ended the game.

The other 2 times happened on this board. This one was right before the 2004 season and right after the 3 point loss to the Patriots in the Super Bowl. I was irritated by the lack of respect the Panthers were getting, and said the following:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (crazybacon)</div><div class='quotemain'>i know it is difficult to keep up with everthing that goes on with 32 teams, but carolina just barely lost the super bowl this season after 2 years of almost everyone saying they didn't have talent, or couldn't win against this team or that...i would think that would be enough for a little respect...they dropped 15 straight in 2001, so i understand the lack of confidence from fans of other teams, but against every question anyone has had about fox and the panthers, they have proven themselves, and they have kept even an even keel...they are still the best team in the nfc south, and i still think they are the best team in the nfc...and the fact that they truly don't get respect will burn in them this year...keep talking about the rams, eagles, cowboys, seahawks, bucs, packers, etc...just know carolina is going to be better this year than they were last year...</div>
So, what happened? My forsight in knowing we would be better turned into 14 key players on IR, 3rd place in the NFC South, a losing season, and no trip to the playoffs.

So I learned my lesson and decided I would not say anything about how good the Panthers would be. However, I found what I thought would be a safe target, something that would not affect the Panthers, in what a former Panther had said after leaving. I immediately looked into my crystal ball and said the following:

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (crazybacon)</div><div class='quotemain'>As told to Elizabeth Newman on SI.com

"ON LIFE AS A NEW MEMBER OF THE BEARS The Bears weren't the first team I considered, but I felt this was the place that gave me the best chance to win right away."

What has he been smoking??? Win what??? 3 games??? 1st pick in next years draft??? I understand trying to put on a good face for the fans, but losing credibility, that will hurt him. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Truth is, it was about money, plain and simple. That is fine and dandy, we all have our priorities, but if he wanted to have the best chance to win, he could have stayed in Carolina for about 2 million less, from what I hear. He might have been a tad more honest if TO hadn't been dancing & prancing about money.</div>
So, to answer my own question, the Bears apparently could win the NFC North, 2nd place in the conference, and of course, beat the Panthers quite badly, with the only TD of the day being scored by Moose.

So, for any of you who would like to see the fortunes of a team change within one season, just have me predict the opposite of what you want, and BAM, instant contender or MASH unit.

Does all this mean that your going to offer a public apology to Mushin Muhammed? [IMG]

    Dear Mushin,

I am sorry you went to the Bears. I am also sorry you scored a TD against the Panthers while you were with Bears. Don't do it again or I'll be even sorrier.

    Sincerely,

    Crazybacon

I have no discord with anyone on here. I was just attempting to be funny. I am certain DolfanDale remembers our little discussion regarding Mushin from an alternate thread. I was just attempting to play off of that. Apparently I need more practice in predicting the future and in conveying humor. [IMG]

I just got off the phone with Mushin Muhammed. He said. "Crazybacon is absolutely right. I did sign with the Bears for the money. PLAYOFF MONEY! Now, tell him to start praying that the Panthers win their next couple of games, so I can score on them again in the playoffs." There you have it, CB. I guess you were right all along. [IMG]

Damn those Rams! I almost missed a prime opportunity to trash this miserable franchise.

It apears St L has descended back into the mediocrity they are so well known for.

How about a prediction for the Packers to not end up with DeAngello Williams, A.J Hawk, and Mario Williams? And not for a trade of Aaron Rodgers for Charley Frye? Oh and Most importantly not the firing of Ted Thompson!
